Production Engineer
Job Title: Production Engineer
Location: Los Angeles, CA (in-person)
Job Type: Full Time (W-2)
Overview:
Half the world still doesn't have stable Internet – want to play a critical role in changing that? Beamlink builds entire cellular networks in a matter of weeks, not years. These are built of easy-to-set-up cells, called Bentocells, which address the historic bottleneck preventing carriers from expanding beyond cities. Our dynamic engineering team designs these in-house along with the firmware, software, and network architectures that make them run.
Role Description: We are looking for a Production Engineer to join our team full-time. You will own the production pipeline for the Bentocell — from PCB ordering and international part manufacturing to inventory management — and play a central role in scaling our hardware from prototype to mass production.
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end PCB ordering, including working with domestic and international contract manufacturers (CMs) and PCB fabrication houses to meet cost, quality, and lead time targets
- Manage part manufacturing relationships with suppliers across Asia and other international regions, coordinating production schedules, quality requirements, and delivery timelines
- Drive second sourcing initiatives for critical components to reduce supply chain risk and ensure continuity of supply
- Identify and resolve supply chain bottlenecks to keep production and prototyping timelines on track
- Set up and maintain a basic inventory management system, establishing processes for tracking stock levels, reorder points, and part availability
- Manage and maintain BOMs, part records, and engineering change orders in our PLM tool (Duro), collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure data accuracy across the supply chain
- Coordinate with vendors on quoting, NRE negotiations, and lead time reduction
- Support incoming inspection and work with the team to resolve part quality issues
- Work with technicians to ensure 100% quality off the line
- Attend and participate in design reviews, providing production and manufacturability input
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, or supply chain engineering role
- Hands-on experience managing PCB orders and working with electronics contract manufacturers
- Experience sourcing and managing suppliers internationally, particularly in Asia (e.g., China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia)
- Familiarity with second sourcing strategies and approved vendor list (AVL) management
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and PCB fabrication/assembly specifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing parts, documentation, and supplier relationships
- Experience working within a PLM or ERP system for BOM and parts management
- Experience with the supplier qualification process
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with Duro or a similar cloud-based PLM tool
- Experience setting up or improving inventory management processes in an early-stage or scaling hardware company
- Familiarity with IPC standards and PCB assembly quality requirements
- Familiarity with flying probe, X-Ray, and CT scan testing
- Exposure to DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews and working cross-functionally with mechanical and electrical engineering teams
- Experience with customs, freight forwarding, or import/export logistics for international shipments
- Ability to travel internationally and attend Zoom meetings in different time zones
Salary/Benefits:
- Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience
- Stock options
- Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance (free)
- Life and Disability Insurance (free)
- 401k benefits
- Flexible work schedule, including the ability to work from home on certain days
- Unlimited paid time off
- Additional commuter stipend if Uber/Lyft is required to reach the office
- Opportunity for growth as the company and production function scale
