Job Description

Title: Director of Communications 
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Department: Marketing  
Reports To:  SVP, Marketing
Salary: $140,000-170,000 + bonus

Job Summary:
BeatBox Beverages is seeking a seasoned Director of Communications to join our marketing team and help elevate our brand visibility across both consumer-facing and B2B markets. This role will spearhead public relations and media efforts, working to ensure that BeatBox’s voice is strong, consistent, and resonant across all channels. This individual will serve as a strategic storyteller, a relationship builder, and a guardian of our brand reputation, with a focus on impactful communication strategies that position BeatBox as a leader in the beverage industry. 

Supervisor Responsibilities: This position does not have direct supervisor responsibilities.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Public Relations Strategy: Develop and implement innovative PR strategies that drive brand awareness and strengthen BeatBox’s position in consumer and B2B markets.
  • Media Relations: Manage media relations, including press releases, to secure positive coverage in key publications, news outlets, and industry journals.  
  • Brand Advocacy & Thought Leadership: Identify and secure interview opportunities with top-tier consumer media outlets; coordinate executive visibility through podcasts, industry panels, and conferences to establish leadership as thought leaders in the beverage industry.
  • Brand Messaging: Oversee brand messaging across all external communication platforms to ensure a consistent, aligned voice that reinforces BeatBox’s values.
  • Industry Network Building: Cultivate strong relationships with industry influencers, journalists, and advocates to champion BeatBox in the broader market.
  • Media Events: Organize press events and media tours, creating engaging experiences to deepen journalists’ and influencers’ connections to the brand.
  • Crisis Management:  Develop and implement crisis communication plans, serving as the spokesperson to safeguard BeatBox’s reputation during challenging situations.
  • Storytelling: Identify and pitch compelling story ideas that highlight BeatBox’s unique selling points and innovation within the beverage space.
  • Media Database Management: Create and maintain a media contact database to enhance outreach and streamline relationship management.
  • Market and Trend Analysis: Monitor media coverage and industry trends, using insights to inform and adjust PR strategies and messaging as needed.
  • Marketing Program Coordination: Ensure major PR initiatives align with social media messaging, quarterly marketing programs, and innovation launches, supporting a unified communication approach.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration:  Work with marketing and creative teams on campaigns, product launches, and event support through targeted media outreach.
  • Spokesperson Training:  Oversee brand spokesperson training for executives and key team members, preparing them for public engagements.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Measure and report PR effectiveness through metrics such as earned media, media impressions, engagement, and reach, evaluating the impact of communication strategies.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  •  Proven experience in managing media relations and crafting impactful PR strategies for high-growth brands.
  •  Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into compelling messages.
  •  Strong crisis management skills and experience serving as a brand spokesperson.
  •  Established network with media, journalists, and industry influencers is a plus.
  •  Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  •  Proficient in media tracking and PR software; experience in analyzing and reporting on PR metrics.

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or a similar field, preferably within the CPG or beverage industry.
  • Ideal candidate will be a key player in sharing the BeatBox story with the world while keeping our internal teams informed and aligned.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment is a must.
  • Proficiency in Asana, Google Suite, Excel preferred.
