Onboard Platform - Middleware Lead
The Role
We’re building out our first fleet of retrofitted autonomous construction machines and we’re looking for a software engineer to lead the development of our middleware software. Your day to day will revolve around the development of the on board middleware infrastructure for our automated machine. This will consist of developing:
- Communication system via Publisher/Subscriber methodology with sub microsecond latency even with large size messages
- Scheduler to manage large amount of subsystems
- Subsystem launcher and module system that allows to launch your robot’s subsystems with full dependency support, coordinated across multiple computers
- Development of embedded real time sub systems
- Development of real time capable zero-copy Interface Definition Language
Background:
- Strong Linux system knowledge
- Proficiency in Python / C++. Rust is a big plus.
- 10+ Years of experience in robotics, autonomous systems
- Understanding of autonomous systems, infrastructure, and operations
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Background knowledge in sensor and compute system including cameras, lidars, radars, GNSS, IMUs, edge compute, and embedded controllers
- Worked on a middleware for an autonomous vehicle
- Embedded Linux OS knowledge (kernel optimization, camera device driver, performance tooling)
Other Special Aspects of the Role:
- Based in Bay Area with ability to be onsite at our testing facility and SF office on a daily/weekly basis
