Help Homeowners Understand Their Electrical Systems

Bell Brothers is hiring a full-time Electrical Safety Inspector (ESI) who combines residential electrical knowledge with clear communication and a customer-first approach. You'll inspect the home's electrical system as a whole, explain what you find, and help homeowners choose solutions that fit their needs and priorities.

This role is about earning trust through thorough inspections, accurate documentation, and honest recommendations, not high-pressure sales. You'll primarily handle scheduled Electrical Safety Inspections and related maintenance appointments rather than serve as a primary demand-service technician.

How We Work

The homeowner experience matters as much as the quality of the inspection. You'll listen to concerns, ask questions about future plans, and explain technical conditions in language homeowners can understand, without unnecessary fear or pressure.

Recommendations must reflect documented electrical needs. We never increase or decrease a condition's safety classification based on its sales potential. You'll help homeowners make informed decisions, present appropriate options, and ask for a decision respectfully.

Our six-step service process provides a consistent approach to every appointment: Prepare, Greet, Explore, Present, Execute, and Wrap Up.

What You'll Do

  • Perform comprehensive residential Electrical Safety Inspections using our established inspection process and ServiceTitan inspection form.
  • Follow a consistent inspection path through service equipment, panels, grounding and bonding, branch circuits, devices, life-safety equipment, exterior systems, and accessible attic and crawlspace areas.
  • Evaluate the system as a whole, using observations to guide follow-up questions and additional evaluation. Classify conditions using our Green, Yellow, and Red stoplight standards.
  • Document findings accurately with notes, photographs, testing results, and supporting information.
  • Discuss findings with homeowners, understand their priorities, and develop and present appropriate repair, replacement, safety, reliability, and system-improvement options.
  • Identify needs requiring additional evaluation or specialized sales support and generate qualified self-set leads when appropriate.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs and service work within your assigned skill level and capabilities.
  • Complete required estimates, signatures, payment processing, invoice summaries, forms, and customer communications in ServiceTitan before closing each appointment. Provide documentation to support customer financing when needed.
  • Maintain inspection tools, testing equipment, vehicle inventory, and company-issued equipment, and follow company safety procedures and electrical standards.

What You'll Bring

This role may suit an electrical apprenticeship graduate, an electrical trainee with relevant field experience, a residential electrician, or a service technician ready to develop in a customer-facing inspection role.

  • Completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship or training program, or equivalent residential electrical field experience.
  • California Electrical Trainee (ET) registration or applicable state electrical certification, as required for your assigned work.
  • Working knowledge of residential electrical systems, including panels, grounding and bonding, branch circuits, devices, GFCI/AFCI protection, and life-safety equipment.
  • Ability to safely perform minor residential electrical repairs within your assigned skill level.
  • Strong observation, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain technical conditions clearly and professionally, present multiple options, and help customers make decisions without high-pressure tactics.
  • Ability to use ServiceTitan or similar field-service software and mobile technology.
  • Strong customer-service and interpersonal skills, punctuality, and the ability to manage appointments independently.
  • A current, valid driver's license and successful completion of required pre-employment screenings.
  • Availability to work full shifts and overtime when necessary.

Customer-service and/or sales experience is preferred.

Training and Benefits

During paid training, you'll work alongside experienced electricians in the field, build hands-on skills, and strengthen your communication with homeowners.

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation and paid holidays
  • Company vehicle and gas card

Work Environment

You'll work independently in residential properties, including attics, garages, crawlspaces, and roofs. The work involves frequent standing and squatting, sitting for extended periods, and occasional ladder climbing and balancing. You'll encounter physical risks associated with residential electrical work and must follow established safety procedures.
