Position Summary
The Receiver is responsible for the accurate and timely receipt of all inbound materials, supplies, and products. This role ensures shipments are verified against purchase orders and packing slips, inspected for quality and damage, properly labeled, and entered into the inventory system. The Receiver supports inventory accuracy, production readiness, and on time operations through strong organization, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive inbound deliveries, unload shipments safely, verify quantities, item numbers, and descriptions against purchase orders (POs), packing slips, or bills of lading.
- Inspect materials for damage, defects, and compliance with specifications; identify discrepancies and report issues promptly.
- Document and escalate shortages, overages, incorrect items, or damaged goods to Purchasing, Warehouse leadership, and/or Quality as required.
- Accurately process receiving transactions in the system (e.g., receipts, transfers, location assignments) in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain organized receiving documentation, including delivery receipts, PO confirmations, non‑conformance notes, and vendor communications.
- Ensure all received items are properly labeled (part number, quantity, lot/batch if applicable) and traceable per company requirements.
- Coordinate and execute efficient put‑away processes, ensuring materials are stored in designated locations to support production flow.
- Follow FIFO/FEFO practices when applicable and ensure inventory is handled to prevent damage (e.g., moisture protection, stacking standards).
- Support cycle counts and inventory audits by maintaining accurate location control and reporting variances.
- Communicate receiving priorities with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams to support critical material availability.
- Assist with staging materials for production or internal transfers as needed.
- Support vendor management by documenting recurring issues and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely (e.g., pallet jack, forklift—if certified) and comply with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area using 5S principles.
- Follow all quality procedures, including non‑conformance reporting and quarantine processes when required.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of receiving, warehouse, or inventory experience (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Experience verifying shipments against POs/packing slips and handling discrepancies.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP/inventory systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. routinely (with assistance/mechanical aids as needed).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment for extended periods.
- Ability to work safely around moving equipment and at varying temperatures typical of warehouse operations.
- All stated requirements may not include every task that may be asked or needs attention from the receiver.
Performance Expectations (Success Measures)
- Receiving accuracy (quantity/item/PO match) and timely transaction processing.
- Reduction in receiving discrepancies and improved documentation quality.
- Inventory location accuracy and put‑away timeliness.
- Consistent compliance with safety and quality procedures.
- Attendance and reliability are critical for teamwork. Plan a schedule PTO with Purchasing Manager.
- Position reports to Purchasing Manager and direct interaction with receiving team leader.
