POSITION OVERVIEW
The Team Lead, Receiver is responsible for leading daily receiving operations while performing hands‑on receiving and inventory control activities. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant receipt of all inbound materials while providing functional leadership to the receiving team. The Team Lead serves as the primary point of coordination between Receiving, Purchasing, Production, and Quality to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations and inventory integrity.
At Bell Cabinetry, the Team Lead, Receiver, plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence and production success. This position offers hands on leadership responsibility, cross functional exposure, and the opportunity to influence factory performance and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate daily receiving activities to ensure timely unloading, inspection, and system processing of inbound shipments.
- Assign and prioritize work for the receiving team based on production needs, delivery schedules, and operational priorities.
- Serve as the escalation point for receiving discrepancies, vendor issues, and urgent material needs.
- Ensure consistent adherence to receiving procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Receive, unload, and verify inbound materials against purchase orders (POs), packing slips, and bills of lading.
- Inspect materials for damage, defects, and specification compliance.
- Identify, document, and communicate shortages, overages, damages, or incorrect shipments to Purchasing, Quality, and leadership using SPR process.
- Ensure proper labeling, identification, and traceability of all received materials.
- Ensure accurate and timely receiving transactions in the system, including receipts, location assignments, and inventory adjustments.
- Review receiving transactions completed by team members for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain organized and audit‑ready receiving documentation.
- Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and discrepancy investigations.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance, coaching, and support to receiving team members.
- Train new and existing employees in receiving processes, transactions, safety practices, and quality standards.
- Monitor team performance and reinforce accountability, accuracy, and productivity expectations.
- Partner with Purchasing and Production leadership on staffing needs, cross‑training, and performance feedback.
- Communicate receiving priorities and material availability to Production, Scheduling, and Supply Chain teams.
- Partner with Purchasing to address vendor performance issues, delivery accuracy, and recurring discrepancies.
- Support Quality with non‑conforming material processes, quarantines, and corrective actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Ensure proper operation of material‑handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks), including certification compliance.
- Maintain a clean, organized receiving area and lean principles.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and throughput.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3–5 years of receiving, warehouse, or inventory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring warehouse/receiving staff.
- Strong knowledge of PO‑based receiving, inventory control, and discrepancy resolution.
- Proficiency with systems and basic computer applications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. routinely (with assistance or mechanical aids as needed).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment for extended periods.
- Ability to work safely around moving equipment and in varying warehouse conditions.

- Reduction in discrepancies, damages, and inventory variances.
- Team productivity, training effectiveness, and adherence to procedures.
- Safety compliance and housekeeping standards.
- Internal customer satisfaction (Production, Purchasing, Quality).
- Attendance, Punctuality and Reliability is critical for the team leadership and influence. Plan a schedule PTO with Purchasing Manager.
