Technical Writer - Electronics & Appliances Manuals (f/m/x)
Berlin Brands Group (BBG) has been designing, producing, and selling products in the areas of kitchen appliances, garden & living, sports and consumer electronics since 2005 and is now one of Europe’s largest digital companies including around 550 employees around the globe. We love brands and products!
As a Technical Writing Manager (f/m/x), you will own the end-to-end development of our product manuals—clear, multilingual, and safety-compliant instruction guides that elevate the user experience across our global appliance portfolio. You will directly produce manuals for complex or flagship products. Working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Creative teams, you’ll define and drive documentation standards that ensure accuracy, brand alignment, and regulatory compliance.
What you will do:
- Lead the design and authorship of instruction manuals with a focus on accuracy, visual clarity, and consumer-friendliness
- Create and manage reusable content components (DITA or modular structure) to streamline documentation across product families
- Establish and enforce editorial standards based on Klarstein’s voice and tone, EU compliance requirements, and best practices in structured writing
- Act as primary point of contact for all manual-related queries; coordinate across Design, Product Management, QA/Legal, and Localization
- Guarantee that all manuals meet CE, EN 82079-1, WEEE, RoHS and other EU directives for user safety and labeling
- Own the documentation QA process, including content verification, usability testing, translation reviews, and version control
- Monitor and report on documentation KPIs (delivery timeliness, support ticket rate, translation quality, reuse rate)
What we are looking for:
- 2-3+ years in technical writing for hardware or consumer goods
- Strong portfolio of consumer-facing manuals in multiple languages
- Familiarity with CE documentation requirements and international safety standards
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken); German and additional EU languages are a strong plus
- Proficient in layout/DTP tools incl. at least one of these tools: Adobe InDesign, FrameMaker or Illustrator
- Experience working with translators, content reuse frameworks, and multilingual publishing workflows
- Clear, structured writing style with a passion for clarity, user focus, and technical precision
What we offer:
- Flexible and hybrid working model with up to 2 home office days per week
- Modern and dog-friendly office in the heart of Berlin (Friedrichshain) with a view of the Spree
- Ability to work up to 4 weeks per year from abroad
- Public transport ticket grant, 30% discount on our products and 40% employer's contribution to the company pension plan
- Active promotion of your development, e.g. through continuous performance feedback, language courses, further training and mental health coaching by the Fürstenberg Institute
- Daily fresh fruits and vegetables as well as drinks and various health offers, e.g. physiotherapy and sport events
- Support by a team of highly skilled and dedicated colleagues who celebrate successes together at numerous company events
