The Role

BVP Forge is seeking a Portfolio Operations Associate reporting directly to the firm's Operating Partners to drive execution and accountability of value creation initiatives (VCIs) across our portfolio companies. In this role, you will be the operational backbone of our post-close value creation engine—owning post-merger integration (PMI) plans, tracking KPIs against targets, driving cross-functional accountability, and ensuring our portfolio companies execute on the initiatives that matter most. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with Operating Partners and portfolio company leadership teams to translate investment theses into measurable operational outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to the full private equity value creation lifecycle—from Day 1 readiness through exit—while building the muscle and credibility to operate at the highest levels of technology, finance and operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution: a disciplined project leader who can hold senior operators accountable, synthesize complex workstreams into clear status updates, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Reports To: Operating Partners, BVP Forge
  • Start Date: TBD

Core Responsibilities

Value Creation Initiative (VCI) Execution & Accountability (~60%)

  • Own the post-close PMI plan for each new portfolio company or acquisition. Translate the investment thesis and diligence findings into a detailed, time-bound integration and value creation roadmap with clearly assigned owners, milestones, and dependencies. Ensure Day 1 readiness and manage the transition from deal team to operating team.
  • Drive ongoing VCI tracking and accountability across portfolio companies. Maintain a rigorous cadence of initiative reviews with Operating Partners and portfolio company management teams. Track progress against plan, flag risks and blockers early, escalate issues, and ensure workstream owners are delivering on commitments.
  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards and scorecards. Partner with portfolio company leadership to define the right KPIs for each VCI and the broader operating plan. Create dashboards that provide real-time visibility into initiative progress and operational performance. Ensure data quality and consistency across companies.
  • Prepare materials for Operating Partner reviews and board meetings. Synthesize initiative status, KPI trends, and risk/opportunity assessments into clear, executive-ready formats.
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams within portfolio companies. Serve as the connective tissue between functional leaders (sales, product, finance, HR) executing on VCIs and the Forge operating team.
  • Assist in coordinating the Forge operating team, monitoring capacity and managing top priorities.

Portfolio Company Partnership (~25%)

  • Serve as a trusted operational partner to portfolio company management teams. Build strong relationships with CEOs, CFOs, and functional leaders. Act as a reliable, responsive point of contact who helps management teams navigate priorities and stay on track.
  • Support portfolio company reporting and performance monitoring. Assist with standardizing financial and operational reporting formats and cadences across the portfolio.
  • Facilitate cross-portfolio knowledge sharing. Identify opportunities to connect portfolio company leaders facing similar challenges. Help coordinate functional working groups, peer learning sessions, and best practice sharing across the portfolio.

Internal BVP Forge Platform Support (~15%)

  • Maintain BVP Forge's internal operating tools and workflows. Support the systems used for portfolio monitoring, project management, and collaboration (e.g., dashboards, project trackers, shared repositories).
  • Contribute to playbook and knowledge base development. Document repeatable processes, templates, and lessons learned from VCI execution to build institutional knowledge over time.
  • Support special projects as needed, including portfolio company events (CEO summits, functional workshops), market research, and ad hoc strategic analyses.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in management consulting on the execution/operations/implementations side (ideally MBB or top-tier strategy firms) or portfolio/platform operations at a private equity firm.
  • Project Management: Exceptional project management skills with demonstrated ability to drive complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives to completion on time.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with financial data, operational KPIs, and initiative tracking frameworks.
  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication; ability to distill complex initiative status into crisp, executive-ready materials.
  • Ownership: High ownership mentality and bias toward action; comfortable holding senior stakeholders accountable and operating with minimal supervision.
  • Collaboration: Collaborative and relationship-driven; able to build trust quickly with portfolio company management teams and internal partners.
  • Curiosity: Intellectual curiosity about private equity value creation, operational excellence, and vertical software businesses.

BVP Forge Values

  • Underdog Mentality: High humility, out-prepares the competition.
  • Prioritize the Team: Does what's best for the team even when it might not be in the individual's best interest; collaborative; kind; values diversity.
  • Clear Thinker: Fact-based decision making; entrepreneurial, creates new and better ways of solving problems.
  • Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously: Values the idiosyncrasies in individuals, self-deprecating, builds meaningful relationships.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
