The Sales Engineer and Product Strategy Specialist supports BETA’s commercial success by operating at the intersection of technical analysis, customer engagement, and market-driven product strategy. This role focuses on enabling sales execution with credible, data-driven insights while contributing market and customer intelligence that informs product positioning and strategic decision-making.
 
This position works closely with Commercial Aircraft Sales, Contracts, Customer Support, Marketing, Program Management, Product Development, and Flight Operations teams. The successful candidate will engage directly with customers to evaluate their aircraft needs, providing technical and market expertise to ensure our products are the optimal solution for their applications.
 
In addition to its sales engineering responsibilities, this position also plays a key role in identifying market opportunities, defining commercially driven product requirements, and developing product roadmap inputs. While not responsible for Product Management execution, the role’s outputs directly inform aircraft configuration, capability trade studies, and long-term product evolution in close collaboration with Product Development and Program Management.
 
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
  • Sales Engineering
  • Support aircraft sales efforts by providing market assessments alongside technically credible performance, operational, and economic analyses to ensure strong product–market fit.
  • Translate engineering outputs—aircraft performance, energy consumption, operating economics, infrastructure needs, and certification assumptions—into clear, customer-ready materials.
  • Participate in customer meetings as a technical and market analysis contributor, helping address performance, operational, and regulatory questions.
  • Support customer diligence, demonstrations, and early deployment planning with data-driven analysis.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve customer-facing analytical tools, models, and presentations to enable repeatable and scalable sales execution.
  • Assist in preparation of technical inputs for proposals, RFP responses, and sales presentations.
  • Product Strategy & Market Analysis
  • Synthesize market insights, sales engineering findings, and competitive benchmarking to support product positioning, differentiation, and roadmap development.
  • Analyze customer use cases, mission profiles, and operational requirements and translate them into recommended aircraft capability and product requirements.
  • Develop and communicate market-driven product requirements and priorities to Program Management and Product Development teams.
  • Develop commercial product roadmap inputs, business cases, and market studies, and represent Commercial priorities in cross-functional roadmap alignment and trade-off discussions.
  • Contribute to pricing, value proposition, and total cost of ownership analyses.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales to prioritize opportunities and align technical and analytical support with commercial needs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to ensure technical accuracy and consistency of customer-facing information.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Commercial teams to support go-to-market narratives and product messaging.
  • Help standardize analysis methods, templates, and tools to improve efficiency and consistency across commercial activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of aviation industry experience in sales engineering, technical sales support, flight operations engineering, product strategy, product marketing, or similar roles in aerospace or aviation.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft performance, operating economics, and aviation operations.
  • Ability to translate complex technical data into clear, customer-facing insights.
  • Experience developing analytical tools and models (advanced Excel required; Python or Matlab a plus), and presentations (advanced PowerPoint required).
  • Familiarity with, and interest in, applying AI-enabled resources to develop commercial materials, analyses, and sales tools.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Willingness to travel as required to support customer and business needs.
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
  • Experience with electric or hybrid-electric aircraft, aviation infrastructure, or advanced air mobility.
  • Familiarity with FAA operational and certification frameworks (e.g., Parts 23, 25, 91, 135, and 121).
  • Background in market analysis, competitive intelligence, pricing strategies, or business case development.
  • Pilot, A&P maintainer, or other aviation certifications.
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to operate autonomously in an environment with evolving processes and procedures.
  • High-paced environment and ability to adjust focus quickly.
  • This role involves occasional domestic and international travel to customer meetings and conferences.
  • Standard office environment with frequent collaboration across multiple time zones and regular interaction with external customers and internal technical teams.
