The AI/ML Engineer will build and operates the agent, retrieval, data-pipeline and deployment infrastructure. The role supports aircraft development while building methods, evidence, and reusable capability for broader Advanced Systems teams and partners. This position will be based onsite at our South Burlington, VT office location, our Raleigh, NC office. Remote candidates may be considered for a hybrid role, with monthly visits to South Burlington, VT for in person work.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Implements orchestration, tool calls, grounding, permissions, observability, automated evaluation and program-intelligence workflows
  • Coordinate with Lead Applied AI; Digital Engineering; Program; BETA OS; IT/Cybersecurity
  • Produce and maintain Working agents; integrations; evaluation results; operations dashboard
  • Support the Program Director / Chief Engineer by reduces decision and communication latency while keeping outputs grounded in controlled data
  • Document assumptions, interfaces, decisions, risks, and verification needs in configuration-controlled engineering records
  • Communicate status, unresolved issues, and recommended actions clearly in technical and program reviews

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, machine learning, or a related technical field
  • Three or more years of relevant engineering or complex-product experience
  • Experience with requirements, interfaces, architecture, configuration, verification or multidisciplinary product integration
  • Ability to structure and maintain traceable technical information and drive cross-functional actions to closure
  • Working knowledge of aircraft development, safety, configuration control and design-review practices
  • Ability to communicate technical assumptions, limitations, risks, and recommendations clearly and work effectively across disciplines
  • Must be a US Person to be considered for the role

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Applied AI, optimization, agent, digital-thread, or engineering-software experience in a regulated or safety-critical environment
  • Experience integrating commercial and internal engineering tools through APIs and controlled data pipelines
  • Experience with model evaluation, observability, security, data rights, or human-in-the-loop approval workflows

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This role requires regular work in office, laboratory, manufacturing, hangar, aircraft, and test environments; Periods of standing, walking, bending, and hands-on hardware work; Occasional lefiting consistent with saafe work practices; Occasional travel or nonstandard test hours; And use of required personal protective equipment.

The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role. We pay competitively and base compensation on a variety of factors including skills, experience, industry background, and the evolving needs of the role. Compensation

$120,000 - $145,000 USD
