Head of Product Design

Malta

We are looking for a Head of Product Design to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of our company. The role will be based in our Malta Headquarters.

 

The Wow

As the Head of Product Design, you will form part of the senior leadership team in the product organisation, being responsible for a central Design function. Your ultimate goal will be to enable and support the product teams in creating products and experiences that will delight our customers, with the authority to set design standards and solutions for others to follow. Moreover, You will be expected to be a key contributor on key product initiatives and inspire the rest of the organisation in building great products and experiences.

What we are looking for

 

  • 9+ years of experience in product design, user experience, interaction design, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing multi‑disciplinary design teams
  • Strong portfolio or track record demonstrating strategic design leadership, complex problem‑solving, and delivery of high‑impact product experiences.
  • Deep understanding of user‑centered design principles, information architecture, service design, and accessibility standards.
  • Experience defining and governing design systems at scale, ensuring consistency across multiple products and platforms.
  • Strong capability in using research, insights, and data to drive evidence‑based design decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape UX architecture and guide product teams in creating coherent end‑to‑end user journeys.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, and senior stakeholders in an agile environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience contributing to product strategy and influencing product roadmaps in partnership with product leadership.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
  • Experience implementing or maturing design operations to improve efficiency, consistency, and collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of modern design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Miro, or similar.
  • Familiarity with modern AI Design and/or development tools such as Gemini, Figma Make, Claude Code, Lovable and similar
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and behavioural data to support design validation and decision‑making.
  • Formal qualifications in HCI, Interaction Design, Psychology, or a related field will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience in complex product environments such as SaaS, fintech, e‑commerce, or online gaming is considered a plus.
  • Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and staying informed on emerging UX trends and best practices.

  • Lead, mentor and inspire your team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration and innovation.
  • Ensure the structure of the organisation is well-defined and optimised for it’s purpose.
  • Work closely with Research, Insights and Data to make evidence based design decisions
  • Ownership for the implementation of design system(s) to maintain excellence and consistency across our product offering (both customer facing and back office).
  • Ownership for the UX architecture of our products.
  • Work closely with Heads of Product to enable and influence the product development roadmaps.
  • Take an active role on complex and strategic initiatives, providing expert guidance and support from a product design perspective.
  • Define and champion user centric design strategies and best practices in the organisation.
  • Drive new thinking in the organisation and stay well informed on the latest user experience trends.
  • Develop a strong understanding of user journeys and customer experience throughout the product organisation.
  • Build effective working relationships across the organisation, serving as a main point of contact and subject matter expert for product design and research.
  • Provide recommendations and support to foster, grow and retain UX talent across the organisation.
  • Assist and support the Director of User Experience in any matters that may arise from time to time.
