Product Manager (Therapist) Intern - Summer 2025

US - Remote

Who are we and why should you join us?

BetterHelp is on a mission to remove the traditional barriers to therapy and make mental health care more accessible to everyone. Founded in 2013, we are now the world’s largest online therapy service – providing affordable and convenient therapy in 210 countries and over 60 languages across the globe. Our network of over 30,000 licensed therapists has helped millions of people take ownership of their mental health and change their lives forever. And we’re not stopping there – as the unmet need for mental health services continues to grow, BetterHelp is committed to being part of the solution.

As the Product Manager (Therapist) Intern at BetterHelp, you’ll join a diverse team of licensed clinicians, engineers, product pros, creatives, marketers, and business leaders who share a passion for expanding access to therapy. And as a mental health company, we take employee mental health just as seriously as we do our mission. We deeply invest in our team’s well-being and professional development, because we know that business and individual growth go hand-in-hand. At BetterHelp, you’ll carve your own path, make an immediate impact, and be challenged every day – with a supportive community behind you the whole way.

What are we looking for?

As a Product Manager (Therapist) Intern, you’ll work closely with our product team to develop, enhance, and launch innovative features that enhance the therapy journey. You’ll gain hands-on experience in defining product requirements, conducting user research, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

We’re looking for an individual excited by the idea of building and growing successful consumer (B2C) products (we have a 2 sided marketplace so you could be on the client side or therapist side). Be prepared to autonomously navigate stakeholder requirements and take lead on your projects.

What will you do?

  • Support highly visible and critical initiatives that materially impact the trajectory of the company. This includes end to end ownership of new products, features and experiments with a focus on growing both sides of our marketplace - consumers and therapists.
  • Initiate, evaluate and prioritize ideas, gather requirements and create specifications for product changes to achieve maximum impact and benefit.
  • Collaborate with the development and design teams before, during, and after each "sprint" to maximize resources' efficiency, utilization, and happiness.
  • Partner with the design team, create a user experience that is both delightful and effective.
  • Perform UAT and functional QA to make sure we're launching only good stuff!
  • Internally: Work cross-functional with all parts of the company (development, support, marketing, business development, operations) in order to (a) convert their insights into product improvements; and (b) to convey the performed changes to them and to make sure they are being integrated and used effectively.
  • Externally: Connect with all external stakeholders (members, providers, marketing channels, business partners, regulators) both inbound and outbound to make sure our product is meeting their needs and requirements.
  • Continually seek ways to improve everything we do and optimize the value we bring to our stakeholders.
  • In a nutshell: Ideate, execute, test, measure, analyze, learn, iterate.

Can I work remotely?

Yes. We operate on PST and candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply. We ask employees to travel to our Mountain View, CA office up to three times per year plus one company-wide offsite to collaborate in person and strengthen working relationships. Travel expenses are covered and reasonable accommodations are made for those under unique circumstances who cannot travel.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills. You are able to explore data sets using BI and analytics tools, identify insights from disparate data sources, and navigate ambiguity.
  • Collaborative mindset. You are able to work effectively with designers, data scientists, product managers, and engineers.
  • Strong product sense. You have a user-centered approach to problem-solving. Great eye for UX and understanding of its related metrics.
  • Strong problem solving skills. You are comfortable working within constraints, iterating based on feedback and balancing user needs with business goals.
  • Strong leadership skills. You are able to navigate stakeholder feedback, establish team buy-in, and articulate product decisions clearly.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • You must include the word "moussaka" in your application (this goes to being thorough and attention to detail).
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Bonus (nice to have):

  • Prior professional work experience in product development or adjacent roles such as data, marketing or design.
  • Good understanding of marketplace dynamics.
  • Experience in both desktop and mobile environments.
  • Passion for mental health.

Benefits

  • The chance to build something that changes lives – and that people love
  • An awesome community of co-workers
  • Meaningful projects: Apply your education to real-world challenges through hands-on, impactful work that is both rigorous and rewarding.
  • Growth & development: Expand your skills through mentoring, job shadowing, lunch & learns, and hands-on project work that supports your personal and professional growth.
  • Dedicated support: Benefit from a manager and mentor who will provide ongoing guidance and support throughout your internship.
