What are we looking for?
The Credentialing Policy & Committee Specialist is responsible for the governance, policy, and oversight components of the credentialing function for BetterHelp. This role ensures credentialing policies, procedures, and committee operations are compliant with NCQA standards, regulatory requirements, and payer expectations. The Specialist serves as the subject-matter expert for the credentialing committee - supporting safe, compliant, and scalable provider network operations.
What will you do?
Credentialing Policy & Governance
- Own and maintain all credentialing and recredentialing policies, procedures, and supporting documentation
- Ensure ongoing compliance with NCQA, CMS, state, and payer credentialing requirements
- Lead regular policy reviews and updates to reflect regulatory changes, operational improvements, and audit findings
- Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure alignment with organizational and regulatory standards
Credentialing Committee Management
- Lead the planning, facilitation, and documentation of Credentialing and Appeals Committee meetings
- Ensure committees are structured and operated in compliance with NCQA and organizational bylaws
- Prepare case summaries, provider files, and decision materials for committee review
- Document committee decisions, rationales, and follow-up actions in accordance with audit standards
Appeals & Adverse Decisions
- Oversee credentialing-related adverse actions and appeals processes
- Ensure timely, compliant notification of providers and proper documentation of outcomes
- Coordinate appeals committee meetings and final determinations
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report on credentialing governance metrics, policy compliance, and committee activity
- Identify gaps or risks in credentialing processes and recommend mitigation strategies
- Support credentialing leadership with readiness assessments and compliance reporting

Can I work remotely?
Yes. We operate on PST and candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply. We ask employees to travel to our San Jose, CA office up to three times per year plus one company-wide offsite to collaborate in person and strengthen working relationships. Travel expenses are covered and reasonable accommodations are made for those under unique circumstances who cannot travel.
Requirements
Required
- 2+ years of experience in provider credentialing, with a strong focus on policy, governance, or audit functions
- In-depth knowledge of NCQA credentialing standards and credentialing committee requirements
- Experience managing credentialing committees and appeals processes
- Strong written communication skills with experience drafting policies and formal documentation
- High attention to detail and ability to interpret regulatory requirements
Preferred
- Experience in a national or multi-state healthcare or behavioral health organization
- Experience supporting NCQA accreditation or re-accreditation
- Familiarity with CMS and state-specific credentialing requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience

The base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and the extensive benefits listed here (subject to eligibility requirements): Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors – including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
