Job Title: Tax Investigator 

Location: This position is onsite in Irvine, CA.

Employment Type: Full-time

Pay Range: $18-21 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and skillset.

As a Tax Investigator, you will be responsible for direct communication with the IRS to gather detailed information about clients's tax accounts. This role involves using Form 8821 and an IRS CAF number to obtain and upload essential transcripts to our client accounts in the Logics CRM. The Tax Investigator must manage extended phone calls, organize and maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with the analysis team to ensure all necessary information is collected and documented.

Key Responsibilities:

The Tax Investigator must be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Communicate with the IRS via the direct practitioner line to conduct thorough
    investigations into clients' tax accounts.
  •  Utilize Form 8821 to obtain necessary information and access client records.
  • Maintain and use an IRS CAF number and an IRS.gov ID.me account to facilitate
    investigations.
  • Conduct phone calls with the IRS that may last up to 2 hours.
  •  Obtain and upload various transcripts (account transcripts, wage and income
    transcripts, and tax return transcripts) to the Logics CRM.
  • Fill out the initial portion of the investigation report for submission to the analyst.
  •  Utilize the Logics CRM system to manage client interactions and document
    submissions, ensuring accurate and timely updates to client profiles.
  • Upload and properly rename documents within the CRM, maintaining data integrity and
    accessibility.
  • Collaborate with the analysis team to ensure all necessary information is collected and
    accurately documented.
  •  Assist in preparing and submitting updated IRS forms 8821 and 2848 for client signatures, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support mailroom functions as needed, including sorting, scanning, and handling client correspondence.

Required Qualifications:

The Tax Investigator must have the following experiences:

  • Relevant experience in tax investigations or similar roles preferred.
  • Possession of an IRS CAF number is a plus.
  • Familiarity with IRS.gov ID.me account usage.
  •  Proficiency in using CRM systems, preferably Logics CRM.
  • A thorough understanding of IRS procedures and tax resolution options is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in Tax Investigations is preferred.
