Position Overview
The Executive Vice President, Media is responsible for building, leading, and growing BGBx's integrated Media practice. This executive will define the vision, strategy, and operating model for Media while establishing BGBx as a market-leading strategic media partner to pharmaceutical and life sciences clients.
Reporting to the President, Communications, the EVP, Media has full responsibility for the growth and profitability of the Media practice, including achieving annual revenue targets, expanding agency capabilities, and developing a sustainable pipeline of new business opportunities. This executive serves as both a practice leader and senior client advisor, responsible for delivering innovative media solutions while driving measurable business growth.
The EVP, Media will play a critical role in expanding BGBx's client portfolio by cultivating executive relationships, identifying opportunities within existing accounts, and originating new client engagements. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to build a high-performing media organization, establish a differentiated market position, generate new revenue, and deliver exceptional client outcomes.
The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader with a proven track record of building and scaling media organizations, leading high-performing teams, and consistently generating new business through strategic leadership and industry relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Media Practice Leadership
- Build, lead, and grow BGBx's integrated Media practice by defining its vision, strategy, operating model, and service offerings.
- Establish best practices, scalable processes, and strategic partnerships that differentiate BGBx's media capabilities and drive client success.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing media team while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure media strategies are data-driven, measurable, and aligned with client business objectives while evolving capabilities to meet changing market demands.
Client Leadership
- Serve as the executive media lead for key client relationships, providing strategic counsel across media strategy, audience planning, investment, and performance optimization.
- Partner with Account, Strategy, Creative, and Consulting teams to deliver integrated communications solutions that achieve client business objectives.
- Build trusted executive-level client relationships that drive long-term partnerships, client satisfaction, and organic growth.
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Own the Media practice's revenue, profitability, and growth objectives, including P&L responsibility.
- Develop and execute strategies to generate new business, expand existing client relationships, and build a sustainable pipeline of growth opportunities.
- Lead or support new business pitches, RFPs, and strategic presentations while representing BGBx through industry relationships, thought leadership, and networking.
- Partner with Growth team and executive leadership to identify market opportunities and accelerate agency growth.
Operational Leadership
- Develop annual business plans, budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics to ensure the long-term success and profitability of the Media practice.
- Drive operational excellence through effective resource planning, financial management, and scalable processes.
- Partner with executive leadership to shape agency strategy, investment priorities, and the continued evolution of BGBx's integrated offerings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive media leadership experience within a healthcare advertising agency, communications agency, media agency, or related organization.
- Proven success building and scaling a media practice or business unit, with responsibility for driving revenue growth, business development, and P&L performance.
- Demonstrated track record of winning new business, expanding existing client relationships, and leading executive-level client engagements.
- Deep expertise in omnichannel media strategy, planning and buying, digital media, search, social, programmatic, analytics, measurement, and emerging media technologies.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset with exceptional business development, financial, and strategic leadership skills.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing, cross-functional teams while fostering a collaborative, client-focused culture.
- Exceptional executive presence with outstanding communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrates behaviors consistent with BGBx's Cultural Norms and Core Values, with a commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and delivering measurable client impact.
Salary Range: $270,000 - $320,000
BGBx is headquartered in New York City, and the salary range listed reflects the expected base compensation for this role in the New York City metropolitan area. This position may be performed remotely within the United States. For candidates located outside the New York City area, compensation will be adjusted to reflect the applicable market for the employee’s primary work location. Final compensation will be determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
