Job Responsibilities 

Primary responsibilities are to fully administer the cultural resources phases/tasks of projects or manage cultural resource projects from proposal to completion. Per project requirements, may be required to supervise and assist in field efforts meeting BGE and stake holder standards, including but not limited to:

  • Responsible for future building out and growth of the cultural resources group.
  • Assist Project Manager in project acquisition planning, proposal development, and procurement; development of project research designs and modification of research designs and procedures to ensure projects are completed in a timely fashion within scope and budget; as well as project planning, development and management of project fiscal, scoping, and scheduling
  • Manage and oversight of project logistics and staffing.
  • Monitor tracking of field effort progress, provide feedback on time constraints and/or staffing needs, modifies field techniques and recording procedures as necessary
  • Provides oversight and leadership for field-based decisions as they pertain to field crew members safety considerations, conflict resolution, and problem solving
  • Executes the broader goals of the project based on research design objectives and applicable standards of investigation.

 

Requirements 

  • Master’s degree and/or PhD from an accredited institution in anthropology, archeology or closely related field;
  • 2 years documented field experience in archaeology  plus 2 years of documented supervisory (Project Archaeologist level) and project management experience
  • Firm understanding of local, state-level and Federal regulatory compliance requirements governing CRM, including working with Section 106 of the NRHP, NEPA, ARPA, and NAGPRA. This includes but is not limited to field surveys, testing, mitigation, monitoring and/or report writing. Regional experience specific to Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas with proficient knowledge of state laws
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS software or similar GIS Platform is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to accurately and effectively perform QAQC of technical reports, regulatory correspondence, and client communications
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with regulatory Agencies, clients, and landowners
  • Familiar with prehistoric and/or historic artifact analysis, laboratory procedures, and equipment highly preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and in a team environment, in addition to taking direction from project supervisors
  • Ability to travel and conduct daily fieldwork for extended periods (crews typically work 10-hour days for duration of field effort, with exception of travel days;
  • Ability to work through rugged terrain and shovel test at prescribed intervals up to 10-miles a day while carrying appropriate field equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Experience in pipeline, utility transmission, petrochemical exploration projects highly preferred
