Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company

As a Senior Product Designer in the Accounts Payable and Accountant Channel team, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience for small and mid sized companies to manage their AP back office finance. Your focus could range from, help customers understand the payment status and actions they could take, enable the accountant console to manage their clients more efficiently, reveal the network value to customers in the right context, etc. You will team up with product managers, researchers, engineers, data analysts, and content designers to understand the most critical customer problems, explore various solutions, validate the concepts with customers, and hand off the detailed solution to engineers, and support the launching and feedback loop of the product features you are responsible for. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handles design challenges and explores innovative solutions. Manages design projects that have a significant impact on product areas.
  • Exhibits a deep understanding of user personas and their pain points. Challenges and influences the team’s understanding of the problems.
  • Develops a strategic perspective on how design aligns with and supports business strategies/metrics.
  • Delivers simple, elegant designs that exhibit a higher level of sophistication. Balances aesthetics with usability to create designs that delight users and create business value.
  • Takes a leadership role in design discussions with cross-functional teams. Adapts messaging to different levels of the organization, from individual contributors to mid-level managers. Provides in-depth explanations of design choices, connecting them to user needs and business goals.

Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborates across departments, fostering cross-functional collaboration as co-lead with Product Management and Engineering Management. Demonstrates effective communication within and outside the immediate team.

Plays a role in defining design strategies that align with the team’s objectives. Provides input into the team’s roadmap based on design insights. Partners with Product Marketing Managers to influence go-to-market strategy.


Knowledge & Experience: Leads design critiques and workshops, guiding the team. Collaborates with other departments to facilitate cross-functional workshops. Acts as a role model for positive team dynamics. Exhibits in-depth knowledge of design principles and industry trends. Possesses in-depth knowledge of the product’s ecosystem. Analyzes competitors and contributes to strategic product decisions. Leverages knowledge from Sales and Support to better understand and serve customers. Leads user research initiatives. Utilizes research insights and data to inform design strategies. Expands toolset to include advanced prototyping tools.

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in product design, with a proven track record of leading design projects from concept to launch. Previous experience in FinTech or a related industry is a plus.
  • Skills: Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Product Design Craft: Ability to take on more ambiguous assignments and elevates design artifact quality with fewer roadblocks. Execute with no guidance; begin to mentor other designers. Achieve a higher level of consistency and aesthetic and Anticipate challenges with variation (what might break a layout). Know when to leverage what we have in the design system and when to push for new or improved components
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Viewed as an accountable and humble cross-functional partner. Able to influence PM prioritization with user data. Has established regular contact with CX and can triage CX info into solution hypothesis
  • Business & Customer Acumen: Incorporate a wide variety of voice of the customer sources. Influence Product Management prioritization with user data. Triage regularly collected customer experience info into solution hypotheses.
  • Communication: Sought out by other designers to guide and mentor in their communication. Draw connections beyond their area they’ve been assigned to. Judge and choose work that more effectively helps achieve business targets. Share business impact stories gained through trial and error as they solve BILL problems, and rely less on secondary knowledge or stories. Brought to the table because of the questions no one else is asking about the customers.
  • Influence: Advocate for user-centered design principles to stakeholders. Consistently influence others to prioritize design solutions, connect customer stories to their design rationale. Cross-functional peers seek you out for subject matter expertise.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Interaction Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

The estimated salary  range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role.  Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

San Jose pay range

$132,400 - $159,000 USD
