We are looking for a LIMS Administrator to join our growing Process Engineering team in the Oncology division to support clinical patient testing in our CLIA lab. The LIMS Administrator will be responsible for (1) Evolving the sophistication and usage of the company’s LIMS tools to support rapid scaling of our clinical lab, (2) Identifying needs and implementing changes to expand the scope of use and the capabilities of LIMS software within lab, (3) Managing a relationship with third party developers and our internal engineering team in system integration efforts, and (4) Working with our process service, and automation engineers to improve laboratory processes, and (5) Streamlining and expanding data export capabilities and integration of LIMS data with our data science team.
This role will help to build upon the strong technology and execution found within BTO’s walls, and will help us pave the way for replicating our prenatal success in the oncology space. This is considered an onsite role and will require the majority of days to be spent in the office at either the Menlo Park or Union City sites.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary company liaison to Semaphore Solutions, the external develop of the Labbit LIMS
- Collaborate closely with wet lab scientists in our clinical molecular biology lab to understand workflows and the corresponding data flow needs
- Perform routine LIMS systems and software maintenance procedures Collaborate with SMEs to design & implement LIMS workflows & to support new assay launches
- Manage existing LIMS workflows, their operations, lifecycle and data
- Manage full release process, including validation, coordination of training, completion of required documentation, and deployments
- Manage relationships with third party contractors & developers, including running weekly meetings, enforcing deadlines, and tracking contracted hours of work
- Monitor, troubleshooting, and correct systems and software technical issues (e.g. resolving bugs and LIMS outages)
- Triage & escalate unresolved technical issues to appropriate internal teams or external developers
- Network with internal stakeholders & customers to develop new technologies
- Develop and maintain relevant technical documentation (SOPs, Policies, etc) for use of BTO’s LIMS systems.
- Ensure compliance to all relevant corporate and regulatory requirements
- Provide end-to-end support & ownership for tickets requiring system change
- Train SMEs across Software Engineering, Data Science, and CLIA to understand LIMS API and data warehouse
- Work with product management teams to maintain and prioritize a backlog of work for information management systems
- Perform periodic review of LIMS performance and report out to senior leadership
- Onboard personnel to LIMS and define systems, roles, and responsibilities
- Set yearly and quarterly goals for Labbit LIMS
- Prioritize and scope features based on goals and timelines
- Define and measure KPIs for Labbit LIMS
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software or Information Systems or equivalent technical expertise with information systems
- 2-5 Years' Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- 2-4 Years' Experience working in a CLIA Lab, medical device, or pharma environment
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams across CLIA, Process Engineering, Software Engineering, Automation and Service Engineering, Data Science, Supply Chain, and Product
- Excellent ability to communicate with CLIA lab personnel to understand molecular biology workflows, regulatory compliance needs and real-world laboratory challenges
- Experience with diagramming workflows using tools such as Lucidchart, Visio, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose basic technical issues
- Deep familiarity with structured data types, including JSON
- Experience with REST APIs
- Experience with Bash
- Experience with Python
- Experience developing scripting solutions to automation problems, especially in a fast paced/agile setting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work flexibly and well under given timeframes
- Highly organized, strong written and verbal communicator
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Strong project management skills and familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Notion, etc.

- Experience with Illumina NGS workflows
- Experience with molecular biology workflows in a high-throughput environment
- Experience with automated liquid handlers and software integrations
- Familiarity with AWS S3
- Familiarity with cloud applications and with EC2
- Experience with the Labbit LIMS platform
- Direct experience with multiple LIMS products (Clarity, STARLIMS, Labvantage, Labworks, etc)
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such as Arena and with related regulations (CFR 21 Part 11, ISO 13485, etc)
- Experience with data analysis using Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python
- Experience with bioinformatics pipelines

At BillionToOne, we are proud to offer a combination of a (1) base pay range (actual amount offered is based on experience and salary/equity options split that the candidate chooses), (2) generous equity options offering, (3) corporate bonus program, on top of (4) industry leading company benefits (free healthcare options, 401k match, very generous fully paid parental leave, etc.).
For this position, we offer a total compensation package of $201,666 per year, including a base pay range of $135,252 - $156,060 per year.
