Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated R&D Scientist specializing in Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization (FISH) technology to join our dynamic research and development team. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical mastery of FISH methodologies, probe development, hybridization optimization, fluorescent microscopy, and associated imaging techniques. This role requires a driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative R&D environment and consistently delivers innovative solutions and high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of FISH probes and protocols for clinical and research applications.
- Conduct experimental planning, execution, and rigorous data analysis to advance novel fluorescent in situ hybridization methodologies.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Product Management to ensure smooth technology transfer from R&D to production.
- Evaluate emerging FISH-related technologies and methodologies to maintain and advance our competitive edge.
- Provide expert-level technical guidance and troubleshooting support to internal teams and external partners.
- Author comprehensive technical reports, validation documents, and contribute to scientific publications and intellectual property submissions.

- Contribute to all aspects of current and future R&D projects from concept to completion, including achieving project goals, timelines and budgets.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive landscape. Evaluate new technologies for potential adoption or integration into product development processes.
- Participate in the design, development, and testing of new products or product enhancements. Ensure products meet quality, performance, and regulatory standards.
- Identify opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency through research and innovation.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation to ensure reliable and accurate results.
- Prepare regular progress reports, presentations, and updates for senior management, stakeholders, and other relevant parties. Communicate R&D goals, achievements, and challenges effectively across the organization.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of related experience.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in research and development, with a track record of successful project management and innovation in molecular diagnostics preferably using FISH technology.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including some early mornings, evenings and weekend days.
- Able to do required travel (primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Less than 10% travel is required.)
Compensation Range
- $70,000 - $90,000 annually
Expected Location & Hours of Work
- This is a full-time on-site position.
- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. This position may require working extended weekday or weekend hours depending on business needs.
