Summary/Objective

The Laboratory Technician supports all stages of the probe manufacturing process—from sample preparation to final quality assessment—to ensure the production of high-quality molecular diagnostic products. This role involves performing hands-on laboratory work, maintaining reagents and bacterial clones, and operating both manual and automated instrumentation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy and consistency, and takes pride in producing results that meet exacting quality standards. Daily responsibilities include reagent preparation, DNA isolation, equipment upkeep, and documentation of results, all in accordance with laboratory SOPs and safety policies.

Essential Functions

  • Perform DNA isolation and probe production using both manual and automated techniques.
  • Maintain precise documentation of production processes, probe performance, and quality control results.
  • Execute established quality control procedures, calibrations, and preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments.
  • Follow the laboratory’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues that could impact production quality or turnaround times.
  • Implement and document corrective actions when systems deviate from performance specifications.
  • Conduct quality testing of reagents and ensure proper labeling, storage, and inventory management.
  • Support process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and consistency of results.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment through strict adherence to company safety policies.
  • Perform additional laboratory assignments and cross-functional projects as directed by management.

Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum one (1+) year experience in a commercial lab environment preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in molecular biology, DNA isolation, and probe-based methodologies.
  • Quality Focus: Committed to maintaining high laboratory standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrates precision in recordkeeping, testing, and data accuracy.
  • Analytical Thinking: Uses sound judgment to assess issues and determine effective resolutions.
  • Collaboration: Works cooperatively within team environments to achieve production goals.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts effectively to shifting priorities, workloads, and new technologies.

Compensation Range

  • $20 - $23 hourly 

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-time Onsite Position
  • 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. This position may require extended weekday or weekend hours depending on business needs.
