Position Details
Biocore has an immediate opening for a full-time TEST ENGINEER. The right individual will support research, engineering, and analytics related to the influence of playing surface on player performance and safety. Specifically, this role supports laboratory and on-field testing, including data gathering and analyses. Additionally, this role includes active support of testing devices through maintenance, service, and parts inventory. This position is on-site in Charlottesville, VA.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in one of the interrelated disciplines of turfgrass science and/or management, mechanical and/or electrical engineering.

Familiarity with data collection systems and data analyses.

Ability to travel for on-site data collection events up to 35% of the time.

Demonstrated experience with electro-mechanical systems, preferably through hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, robotic, and controls systems is preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Data collection using a variety of testing devices in the laboratory and in the field.
- Coordinate logistics for off-site test events including testing scheduling and device logistics.
- Analyze data, interpret results, and compile technical reports.
- Troubleshoot device issues and support determination of root-cause through developing a detailed understanding of testing devices’ hardware and software.
- Ensure that testing tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
Technical Capabilities
- Ability to follow safety protocols and track record of following them rigorously.
- Ability to read and follow electrical/mechanical schematics to assist in isolating fault to root cause component/assembly.
- (Preferred) Familiarity debugging DC circuits using an oscilloscope.
- (Preferred) Familiarity with design of experiments, statistical analyses, and proficiency in coding language (R, Python, Excel)

- Excellent oral communication skills; able to coordinate testing events with external stakeholders.
- Excellent written communication skills; able to write technical documentation.
- Able to lift 50-lbs unassisted.
