Position Details
Biocore has an immediate opening for a full-time SENIOR ENGINEER. The right individual will support research, engineering, and analytics related to the influence of playing surface on player performance and safety. Specifically, this role supports laboratory and on-field testing, analytics and integration with other workstreams, technical and academic writing, and communication with external stakeholders including sports leagues, clubs, and sports governing bodies. The position is based at our primary office in Charlottesville, VA.

Position Requirements
Advanced degree or 5+ years of experience in one of the interrelated disciplines of turfgrass science and/or management, sports biomechanics, or mechanical/electrical engineering. Demonstrated experience in scientific experiments, statistical data analyses, and academic manuscript writing is required. Research and testing experience with playing surfaces is preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the portfolio of research and operations involving playing surface test devices, testing events, and analytics.
- Collect and analyze data, interpret results, and compile technical reports.
- Engage with stakeholders in the sports and academic fields, collaborating on development and evaluation of new playing surface technologies.
- Write technical and operational documentation to support testing and test devices.
- Develop manuscripts for publication in academic journals.
Technical capabilities
- Design of experiments, statistical analyses, and proficiency in coding language (R, Python, Excel)
- Experience with data collection systems and related safety protocols.
- Ability to critically think and problem-solve.
- Familiarity with the development of test methods, ideally related to sports field and equipment testing.
- Ability to coordinate/execute multiple research and operational testing events across various locations in the USA.
General capabilities
- Excellent oral communication skills; able to interact with external stakeholders regarding testing events, equipment support, and data interpretation.
- Excellent written communication skills; able to write technical and operational documentation, and academic manuscripts.
- Able to lift 50-lbs unassisted.
