BioMed Realty has a Marketing Communications Project Management internship available in its San Diego Headquarters for undergrad or grad students majoring in Marketing, Communications, or a related industry field such as real estate.

Internship Objectives

The Marketing Communications Project Management Intern will gain hands-on experience in marketing and communications by collaborating with a dynamic team on projects across digital, print, and internal platforms. In this role, you will take ownership of marketing projects, contributing to strategies that highlight top-tier products and services. You’ll be exposed to a variety of marketing aspects, from content creation to strategic execution, and work across key functional areas like brand development and public relations. This position offers the opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment while making a meaningful impact on important marketing initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Project Management Support:
    • Support incoming creative requests and ensure timely execution of deliverables with quality.
    • Coordinate and organize workflows with internal teams and external vendors to meet deadlines and on budget.
  • Content Creation & Execution:
    • Assist in developing and updating marketing materials such as PowerPoint presentations, brochures, tour books, videos, and website content.
    • Contribute to social media planning, research, and execution to elevate brand presence.
    • Support internal communications efforts, including drafting newsletters and announcements.
    • Brainstorm, research, share and implement innovative content ideas and industry best practices
  • Media & Asset Coordination:
    • Organize and maintain creative assets, materials, and project files in a systematic and accessible way.
    • Coordinate photo and video shoots, including scheduling, logistics, and onsite support as needed.
    • Draft press releases and internal communications and assist in media relations as needed.
  • Strategy Support:
    • Work with the team to implement initiatives outlined in marketing strategies.
    • Assist in measuring and reporting on the success of campaigns and initiatives.
    • Coordinate and plan company merchandise orders for events

Job Specifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university as a rising junior or senior (undergraduate), or as a first-year graduate student, with an expected graduation date no earlier than May/June 2027.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of creative applications of A.I.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment but with equal attention to detail and quality.
  • Self-starter, proactive and independent.
  • Methodical and process driven.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and SmartSheet is a plus.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and social media planning tools, such as Hootsuite.
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for design and detail.
  • A positive proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Schedule 

The Marketing Communications Project Management Intern position will run from June 2026 through February 2027. The intern is expected to work Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, at the San Diego Headquarters. During the summer, the position is full-time (40 hours per week), and during the school year, it will be part-time (20 hours per week). The schedule may be adjusted based on departmental needs.

Hourly Wage

$25.00 per hour for undergraduate and $30.00 per hour for graduate student.
