Analyst / Senior Analyst, Finance – Portfolio Reporting & Business Insights

San Diego, CA

BioMed Realty, a Blackstone portfolio company, is the largest private provider of real estate solutions for the life science industry. BioMed owns and operates high-quality life science real estate in leading innovation markets across the United States and the United Kingdom, including Boston/Cambridge, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, Boulder, and Cambridge, U.K.

About the Opportunity

This role is a key contributor to how senior management, the Board, and investors understand portfolio performance. The Analyst / Senior Analyst will transform leasing, occupancy, and development data into actionable analysis and reporting that supports executive decision-making.

This position offers a strong opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working at the intersection of data, reporting, and business insight. The role includes ownership of recurring executive and investor deliverables, ad hoc portfolio analysis, and collaboration with teams across the company to help explain what is happening in the business. It is well suited for someone who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

Title and level will be determined based on experience, skill set, and demonstrated ability in financial reporting, analysis, and cross-functional partnership.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare recurring dashboards and reporting packages for senior management and investors, including portfolio occupancy reporting, quarterly investor presentations, and responses to ad hoc investor requests
  • Analyze portfolio performance trends, including occupancy, leasing activity, tenant mix, and development activity, and translate findings into clear reporting and presentations for senior management and investors
  • Provide concise analysis, summaries, and supporting materials to help leadership understand portfolio performance and key business trends at both the asset and portfolio levels
  • Lead the monthly rent roll variance review process to ensure data accuracy in executive and investor reporting, partnering with Lease Administration to investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Review and analyze lease transactions and related documentation to support portfolio metrics and reporting accuracy
  • Manage leasing and portfolio databases, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability across reporting deliverables
  • Partner with teams across the company to coordinate data flow and support accurate, timely, and consistent reporting
  • Perform detailed reviews of reporting materials to ensure accuracy, grammar, formatting, and consistency across deliverables
  • Utilize Excel, PowerPoint, and the organization’s enterprise reporting software, Oracle EPM Cloud, to support analysis and reporting responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality, and the efficiency of recurring deliverables

What Success Looks Like in This Role

You will likely thrive in this role if you:

  • Are energized by a fast-paced environment and enjoy managing multiple concurrent deadlines
  • Take pride in producing thoughtful, polished, high-quality work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Can move effectively between recurring production work and ad hoc analysis without losing momentum
  • Enjoy working with large data sets and translating them into clear, useful insights.
  • Are comfortable asking questions, investigating issues, and speaking up when something does not look right
  • Bring a proactive mindset and look for ways to improve processes rather than simply complete tasks

This role may be a less natural fit for someone who:

  • Prefers highly structured, step-by-step direction for each task
  • Strongly prefers working on one project at a time with long lead times
  • Is uncomfortable with shifting priorities or unexpected requests
  • Prefers to wait for direction rather than proactively researching and solving problems

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or a related field
  • Experience or exposure to corporate financial analysis, reporting, or accounting required
  • Understanding of real estate fundamentals is a plus
  • Familiarity with commercial leases and related financial terms is a plus
  • Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with enterprise reporting systems, planning tools, or large financial data sets is a plus
  • Prior experience with Oracle EPM Cloud or similar reporting platforms is a plus

Core Competencies

  • Attention to Detail: Produces accurate, error-free, polished deliverables for a management and investor audience
  • Productivity: Manages a high volume of recurring deliverables while effectively prioritizing work and maintaining quality
  • Curiosity: Learns quickly, applies new skills, and continuously seeks to improve for individual and team success
  • Communication: Communicates clearly and proactively, both verbally and in writing, and escalates issues early when needed
  • Collaboration: Builds strong working relationships across departments and approaches colleagues as partners
  • Drive / Initiative: Takes ownership of work and continuously looks for ways to improve processes and solve problems
  • Organization: Operates effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • Data Synthesis: Coordinates data from multiple sources and consolidates it into a unified reporting structure, while maintaining an understanding of source data and downstream reporting impacts
  • Flexibility: Adapts readily to changing priorities and business needs

Compensation:

Analyst: $78,000 - $102,500 per year + bonus + benefits

Senior Analyst: $92,000 - $120,000 per year + bonus + long term incentive + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining pay, we’ll consider location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
