Your role:
- Manage and oversee conduct of complex or multi-country projects with assigned teams, to ensure they are performed on schedule, within budget and meet all quality and regulatory requirements.
- Provide oversight to Project Managers in their management of the complete project lifecycle by reviewing and approving project plans, work breakdown structure, project schedule and overall budget.
- Participate in key project review meetings and events, provide leadership and support to the Project Managers and teams, analyse project performance reports; review and approve changes to the operational plans and project and/or change orders if necessary.
- Oversee project’s health with the Project Managers, participate in project health review meetings with the head of Project Operations to analyse project performance; review and approve changes to the plan and project and/or change orders if necessary.
- Act as the point of escalation for project scope changes, timeline, resources, and other specific project related issues; discuss changes and action plan with the Project Management Branch Head and Sponsors.
- Provide day to day leadership, guidance, support, mentoring, training and development tracking of assigned managers and project team members and creating a culture of transparency and communication throughout the team.
- Provide support to the Project Management Branch Head with recruitment and onboarding efforts for branch staff.
- May assist Project Management Branch Head to assess resources utilization and determine allocation of resources.
- May act as a champion and coordinate branch or company level initiatives collaborating with functional leaders within the branch and/or company.
- Support Project Managers on communications/discussions with other branches related to managed projects’ deliverables and resources.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationship with key Sponsor personnel, to ensure open lines of communication and discuss opportunities for future business.
- Provide oversight of quality throughout the project lifecycle, consult with Quality Assurance and branch on common trends identified, gaps observed for process improvements.
- Work closely with Commercial Operations Account Managers to support project acquisition activities; review and provide input on client request-for-proposals (RFPs), participate in client presentations; review and approve initial bids; and participate in bid defense meetings.
- Collaborate with other Directors within the branch to assess interdependencies between projects and ensure harmonization and alignment.
- Partner with the Project Management Branch Head to ensure alignment and delivery of project management services according to company mission, vision and KPIs.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a scientific discipline preferred.
- Fluent English (oral and written).
- 14 years or more experience with managing large, multi-country project operations, preferably in the clinical research industry.
- 11 years or more experience in supervising and managing large cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership, planning and management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Project Management processes and understanding of ICH GCP and applicable regulatory requirements
