Cambridge, Massachusetts

About the Company

Bios Life is developing next-generation cancer surveillance technology that modernizes and scales long-term cancer follow-up care. We integrate evidence-based clinical frameworks, technology-enabled workflows, and diagnostics into accessible, high-quality screening and survivorship models. The company is based in Cambridge, Ma with an office in the UK.

About the Role

Bios Life is seeking a Director, Biomarker Platform to lead the strategy, development, and evolution of our Clinical and Research Biomarker platforms.

This is a highly interdisciplinary role at the intersection of cancer biology, biomarker science, artificial intelligence, clinical medicine, and product development. The Director will serve as the lead architect of Bios Life's biomarker strategy, helping determine which biomarkers and combinations of biomarkers have the greatest potential to advance our clinical, research, and product objectives.

Working closely with Medical, AI, Product, and other scientific and technical teams, this leader will continuously evaluate the evolving scientific and medical evidence base across multiple biomarker modalities and translate those insights into a clear and dynamic biomarker prioritization framework.

The Director will bring deep expertise in the molecular biology of cancer as well as hands-on knowledge across multiple biomarker modalities, including transcriptomics, proteomics, circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), and fragmentomics. Equally important, this individual will understand how AI and multi-modal datasets can be used to integrate complex biological signals, identify meaningful patterns, and support the development of differentiated clinical and research applications.

This is an opportunity for a scientifically rigorous and strategically minded leader to build a foundational capability for Bios Life and help shape how biomarker science is translated into meaningful solutions for cancer screening, surveillance, survivorship, and care.

  • Ensure biomarker strategy considers real-world clinical workflows, patient populations, intended use, and potential impact on clinical decision-making.

Product & Platform Partnership

  • Work closely with Product leadership to translate biomarker science into clear platform and product opportunities.
  • Provide scientific input into product roadmaps where biomarker capabilities are foundational to the solution.
  • Help Product teams understand the maturity, limitations, dependencies, and development requirements associated with potential biomarker applications.
  • Evaluate how emerging biomarkers and technologies could strengthen existing Bios Life offerings or create entirely new product opportunities.
  • Ensure that biomarker development is driven not only by scientific promise, but also by clinical relevance and alignment with Bios Life's broader strategy.

Scientific Leadership & External Landscape

  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on cancer biomarkers and the evolving multi-omics landscape.
  • Monitor emerging research, technologies, competitors, academic developments, and industry trends relevant to Bios Life's biomarker strategy.
  • Develop relationships with external scientific and clinical experts where appropriate to strengthen Bios Life's capabilities and perspective.
  • Evaluate potential scientific collaborations, technologies, datasets, and partnerships.
  • Represent Bios Life's biomarker strategy in scientific and strategic discussions with external partners as appropriate.
  • Bring scientific rigor and disciplined decision-making to an area where the evidence base and technology landscape are evolving rapidly.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a highly accomplished biomarker scientist and strategic thinker with deep expertise in the molecular biology of cancer and significant experience working across multiple biomarker and data modalities.

This individual should be comfortable operating at the intersection of biology, medicine, data science, and product strategy. They should be able to move fluidly between evaluating emerging scientific evidence, interrogating complex datasets, engaging with AI and computational teams, and helping senior leaders determine which scientific opportunities Bios Life should pursue.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Advanced scientific training, typically a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent experience in molecular biology, cancer biology, genomics, computational biology, translational medicine, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of the molecular biology of cancer and the biological mechanisms underlying cancer development, progression, detection, and recurrence.
  • Significant experience in biomarker discovery, development, evaluation, and/or translation within oncology.
  • Demonstrated expertise across multiple biomarker modalities, including transcriptomics, proteomics, ctDNA, and fragmentomics.
  • Experience working with AI, machine learning, and/or computational approaches applied to complex biological or clinical datasets.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multi-modal datasets and integrating signals across different biological and clinical data types.
  • Strong understanding of the scientific and clinical evidence required to move biomarkers from promising research findings toward meaningful clinical applications.
  • Experience in histopathology, digital pathology, and/or imaging analysis is a plus.
  • Ability to critically evaluate scientific evidence and distinguish compelling biological signals from findings that require further validation.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Medical, AI/Data Science, Product, Clinical, Engineering, and other scientific or technical teams.
  • Strong strategic judgment and the ability to prioritize among multiple scientifically compelling opportunities based on clinical relevance, evidence, feasibility, and organizational strategy.
  • Exceptional scientific communication skills, including the ability to translate highly complex biological concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where the science, technology, and business strategy will continue to evolve.

Above all, this person should combine deep scientific credibility with exceptional strategic judgment.
