THE OPPORTUNITY: Category Manager, Groomsmen
REPORTS TO: General Manager and SVP Merchandising
LOCATION: US - Remote
Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with an office in New York, NY, Birdy Grey supports remote work for eligible roles. We ask that all employees travel to either office once a quarter. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Birdy Grey is looking for a Category Manager to lead our nascent Suits business.
The Category Manager, Groomsmen will be responsible for driving revenue growth and profitability for the nascent Birdy Grey Suits business. They will be responsible for successfully scaling this newly launched category, including building a product and go to market strategy that meets consumer demand and maximizes revenue opportunities, as well as leading X-functional efforts to ensure successful execution.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Category ownership & strategic vision
- Responsible for setting the strategic vision and successful execution in order to hit category top line and bottom line targets
- Focus on harvesting learnings from recent business launch, to craft a clear roadmap to accelerate growth in the next 18 months
Merchandising Assortment & Product Mix
- Build a vision for how to expand our product assortment to maximize revenue growth, rooted in a combination of consumer insights, business performance, and broader competitive landscape and trends
- Drive the selection and presentation of our product assortment, guiding the broader X functional team to ensure the vision is coming to life successfully in our client experience
- Partner with the product development team to refine and build out the assortment selection, and refine our vendor matrix
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Determine which KPIs should be tracked, measured and reported on
- Utilize data analytics to inform decision-making processes and provide insights on sales performance, customer preferences, and market trends
- Provide weekly business review, with a focus on actionable insights and recommendations
Cross-functional category champion
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandise planning, marketing, supply chain, and finance, to ensure successful execution
- For instance:
- Actively drive category growth by partnering closely with the growth marketing, brand and site merchandising teams to drive traffic and conversion through assortment driven content calendar and 360 marketing campaigns
- Partner with the Operations and merchandise planning teams to optimize inventory management, drive cost efficiencies, as well as support new initiatives
- Support CX team in addressing customer feedback where appropriate
- Influence site merchandising and digital product roadmap to optimize how the product and drive site conversion and sales
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree Required, MBA is a Plus
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will have a unique mix of strategy as well as operational experience in the retail industry. This role is a unique opportunity to step into an Operational role with strong ownership and accountability!
- 4+ years of experience in management/strategy consulting firm as well as an additional 2+ years in retail, with experience in a merchandising function a plus
- Highly analytical, data driven problem solver
- Strong communicator
- An action-oriented self-starter who can see the “big picture” as well as roll up their sleeves and dive in where needed
- Operational mindset and high attention to detail
- Naturally connects and builds strong relationships with others, able to inspire trust and followership in others through compelling influence
- Strong ability to identify and prioritize the most impactful business issues, and distill them into structure frameworks and action plans
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy
- Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up - no job is too big or too small

California Pay Range
$100,000 - $120,000 USD
