Regional Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary

Birgo is a mission-driven company seeking a Regional Maintenance Supervisor for approximately 1600 multifamily units in the Pittsburgh, PA area. This position partners with the Regional Property Manager to support local teams in completing work orders, turnovers, groundskeeping, training, preventive maintenance, safety protocols, and capital projects. Primarily focused on fieldwork with the maintenance team, this position also includes significant administrative responsibilities, such as leading decision-making and ensuring the team delivers high-quality results.
Responsibilities
- Train staff on technical skills, workload prioritization, professional conduct, safety measures, and management practices.
- Assist with personnel decisions including hiring, development, and performance management.
- Manage the process and train staff to handle around-the-clock emergencies.
- Organize and prepare materials to ensure maintenance work is completed appropriately and on time.
- Guide Maintenance Supervisors in managing costs through efficient use of materials, labor hours, and cost control techniques.
- Review maintenance work to ensure it meets standards.
- Oversee and/or complete specialized work orders.
- Ensure that billable rates stay within company requirements.
- Maintain safe tools and equipment.
- Tackle issues that arise during daily operations.
- Work with Trade Specialists to improve the effectiveness of trades programs in the short-term and long-term.
- Make operations more efficient by listening to the team and proposing solutions to standardize and reallocate resources across the region.
- Direct the creation of scopes, vendor selection, and execution of capital projects.
- Carry out regulatory compliance checks and preventive maintenance programs.
- Provide regular updates to the Regional Manager on routine work, as well as any concerns related to safety, vendors, materials, and purchasing.
- Other duties as identified to help Birgo improve lives through real estate.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Basic understanding of every residential trade (plumbing, electrical, drywall, HVAC, etc.)
- Expertise in one or more trades
- Comprehensive understanding of vendor management including bidding
- Comprehensive understanding of maintaining equipment, tools, and vehicles
Experience
- Significant experience directing the work of others, managing employees, and training teams
- Significant experience implementing safety and preventive maintenance programs
- 10+ years of hands-on maintenance or construction experience (multifamily preferred)

Other Requirements
- Able to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted
- Able to safely use power tools
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and using ladders and staircases
- Satisfactory motor vehicle record
- Willing to travel throughout WPA and WV on most workdays
- Not eligible for work from home, nor flexible hours status
