We are currently looking for a Director, Special Projects to join our team. 

 

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $170,000 - $210,000 USD

 

What You Can Expect from This Role 

The Director, Special Projects is responsible for leading and driving critical financial and accounting projects that support the company’s growth in high-performance computing and bitcoin mining.  The individual will manage multiple projects gathering data, compiling thoughtful analysis, developing financial models to support project viability and coordinating with other corporate functions to present thorough analyses and recommendations.  The individual will also be tasked with leading the execution or implementation of the projects efficiently and effectively.   

The role reports directly to the CFO with close interaction and support from the SVP Finance and accounting and collaborates with executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to drive project outcomes.   

Key Reponsibilities

The Director will manage comprehensive and detailed project plans for strategic initiatives including capital raising, financial reporting practices and processes, integration of mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, overseeing cost management programs and forecasting and budget tracking.  The Director will lead the end-to-end management of major financial projects, including scoping, planning, resource allocation and execution, analyze complex financial data, prepare detailed reports, and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and Board of Directors. 

  • Conduct analyses of financing options and alternatives including modeling and presentation preparation for presentation to senior management and Board of Directors.

  • Develop and present business cases, including financial models, to support strategic decision-making and initiatives.

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling for projects, including the research of accounting matters (including working closely with external advisors), and implementation of accounting practices and processes.

  • Manage financial reporting of and accounting for acquisitions, financings, investments in and sales and disposition activities.

  • Address financial reporting requirements for acquirer due diligence exercises including populating project data rooms.

  • Assume responsibility for financial due diligence of prospective acquisitions, mergers and other significant complementary transactions.

  • Oversee the implementation of critical accounting systems and software company-wide ensuring resource optimization and efficient information capture, retrieval and reporting including tracking.

  • Conduct thorough risk analyses and develop actionable mitigation strategies for enterprise-wide projects.

  • Coordinate the work between the other corporate functions, external consultants and the auditors. 

 

What We Are Looking For 

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree. 

  • CA/CPA with at least three years of experience at major public accounting firm in assurance or transaction advisory services and experience in corporate finance and accounting settings.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all organizational levels, including C-suite executives.

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale financial projects and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex, multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in financial modeling.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (data analysis) and PowerPoint (executive presentations).

  • Expertise in financial modeling and developing compelling business cases.

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.

  • Highly adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities and adjust to rapidly evolving business needs.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities

  • Willingness to travel across the US, Canada, Latin America, and other international locations, at times  

  • Experience with/exposure to high-performance computing and energy a plus.

  • Project management certification and experience with project management software a plus.
