InfraOps Intern - InfraOps (Winter 2027)

Toronto

BitGo is the leading infrastructure provider of digital asset solutions, delivering custody, wallets, staking, trading, financing, and settlement services from regulated cold storage. Since our founding in 2013, we have focused on enabling our clients to securely navigate the digital asset space. With a global presence and multiple Trust companies, BitGo serves thousands of institutions, including many of the industry's top brands, exchanges, and platforms, and millions of retail investors worldwide. As the operational backbone of the digital economy, BitGo handles a significant portion of Bitcoin network transactions and is the largest independent digital asset custodian, and staking provider, in the world. The InfraOps team owns the platform that everything else at BitGo runs on — the Kubernetes clusters, AWS accounts, networking, and developer platform that custody, wallets, staking, trading, and fiat all depend on. Every transaction BitGo processes — across our global footprint and our regulated trust companies — touches infrastructure this team builds and operates.

We care deeply about reliability, cost discipline, and giving engineers across BitGo a fast, safe path from a git commit to production. We operate at significant scale (multi-region EKS, multi-petabyte monthly egress, $1M+/month AWS spend) and the team prioritizes systems thinking, operational rigor, and pragmatic automation over heroics.

About our stack:

  • Cloud - AWS (primary), exploring bare-metal-as-a-service for static workloads
  • Orchestration - Kubernetes (EKS), Cilium CNI, Envoy Gateway
  • IaC & GitOps - Terraform (with Atlantis), ArgoCD, Kustomize, Helm
  • Languages - Go, Python, Bash
  • Observability & FinOps - Grafana Stack, ELK, Cloudzero, Kubecost
  • Edge & Security - Cloudflare, AWS GuardDuty, Falco, Kyverno

Responsibilities:

Build and improve infrastructure tooling and automation in conjunction with the InfraOps and platform engineering teams Improve resilience of services through documentation, runbooks, testing, and tooling Contribute to cost optimization, observability, and reliability initiatives across the platform Collaborate closely with the InfraOps team and partner engineering teams to ensure consistency in understanding of technical requirements and overall work quality

Requirements:

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field Comfortable on a Linux command line and writing scripts in at least one language (Python, Go, Bash, or similar) Working knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred) Familiarity with containers, and ideally some exposure to Kubernetes or another orchestrator AI proficiency Solid engineering fundamentals and passion for high quality, well-tested infrastructure code Strong operational instincts — curiosity about how systems fail and how to make them fail gracefully Strong work ethic Interest in crypto and blockchain preferred Interest in the financial industry
