Research Analyst

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Analyst to support Business Intelligence (BI) analytics and customer experience/stakeholder engagement for a major IT/Product Modernization program supporting one of the largest public repositories of high-throughput sequencing data. The ideal candidate will analyze data from internal dashboards, user/stakeholder feedback channels, and other information sources to generate actionable insights that guide product direction and modernization priorities.

In this role, you will work closely with both the Product Teams and the Customer Experience/Stakeholder Engagement Team. You will synthesize BI findings into clear, concise recommendations that inform strategy, success metrics, and improve overall customer experience.  As part of the Customer Experience Team, you will work in an Agile framework to  plan, schedule, and coordinate engagement activities, ensuring smooth logistics and meaningful insight collection and reporting on a regular basis. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and experience supporting complex projects in a government setting are essential.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct business intelligence analysis using, analytics tools, and qualitative feedback sources to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear insights and recommendations for Product Teams and Customer Experience/ leadership.
  • Collaborate regularly with project team members from functional, technical, and scientific groups; escalate issues requiring additional attention.
  • Support development and refinement of internal and external product requirements, success criteria, and relevant KPIs.
  • Prepare briefing materials, summaries, and reports that communicate insights and BI findings.
  • Help conduct user and stakeholder research to assess needs, preferences, and satisfaction.
  • Support logistics management for stakeholder activities, including meeting coordination, documentation, and follow-up tracking.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and identify operational risks related to user/stakeholder engagement or analytic processes.
  • Prioritize insights based on strategic goals, user needs, and organizational priorities.
  • Measure the impact of engagement activities on user sentiment and system adoption.

Education and Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in research analysis, business intelligence, data analytics, or related analytical roles.
  • Experience supporting project management or logistics coordination within multi-functional or technical teams.
  • Strong experience working with data dashboards, visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Grafana, BigQuery), and Excel-based analysis.
  • Experience synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data into clear insights for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence tools, and agile framework methodologies.
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports, insight summaries, and data-driven briefing materials.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (public health, data science, business, analytics, bioinformatics, or related); advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in biomedical, bioinformatics, scientific, or federal environments is a plus.

Preferred Certifications

  • Candidates may have a combination of the following:

    • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
    • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • Agile or Scrum certification (CSM, SAFe Agilist, etc.)
    • Tableau or Power BI Analyst Certification

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and location. The targeted range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000.
