Overview

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for an AI/ML Engineer to support the development and implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions. The AI/ML Engineer will work with technical and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities where AI can address complex business and technical challenges and deliver meaningful results.

Job Description

The AI/ML Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain machine learning systems and applications. This position will work with data science prototypes, select and implement appropriate machine learning algorithms and tools, and train and optimize models based on performance and test results.

The AI/ML Engineer will also collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to understand client challenges, identify opportunities for AI-enabled solutions, and translate those opportunities into scalable technical capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining machine learning models and systems
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques
  • Strong understanding of mathematics, probability, statistics, and algorithms
  • Experience with data structures, data modeling, and software architecture
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis and use results to evaluate and fine-tune machine learning models
  • Experience selecting appropriate datasets and data representation methods
  • Experience conducting machine learning tests and experiments
  • Ability to develop robust code using Python, Java, and/or R
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or Keras
  • Experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn

Experience Requirements by Level:

  • Senior: 8+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of experience related to AI technologies
  • Mid-Level: 6+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of experience related to AI technologies
  • Junior: 3+ years of relevant experience

Desired Skills

  • Experience extending or customizing existing machine learning libraries and frameworks
  • Experience transforming data science prototypes into production-ready solutions
  • Experience evaluating emerging AI/ML technologies, frameworks, and tools
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary or cross-functional technical teams
  • Experience identifying business or technical processes where AI and machine learning can provide measurable benefits
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement machine learning systems and applications
  • Create, train, evaluate, fine-tune, and retrain machine learning models
  • Research and implement appropriate machine learning algorithms, frameworks, and tools
  • Transform data science prototypes into scalable machine learning solutions
  • Select appropriate datasets and data representation methods based on project requirements
  • Conduct machine learning tests and experiments and evaluate model performance
  • Perform statistical analysis and fine-tuning based on testing and performance results
  • Extend and integrate existing machine learning libraries and frameworks when appropriate
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand company and client challenges and identify opportunities for AI-enabled solutions
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize areas where AI solutions can provide meaningful business or technical benefits
  • Support AI research and development efforts aligned with organizational and client objectives
  • Apply sound software engineering, data modeling, and architectural principles when developing AI/ML solutions
  • Stay current with advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and related technologies
