Overview

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to lead the design, development, implementation, and enhancement of enterprise business intelligence solutions. The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will use Microsoft Power BI and related technologies to transform complex data into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.

Job Description

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will serve as a technical expert responsible for leading complex business intelligence and data analytics initiatives. This position will design and develop advanced reporting, dashboards, data models, and analytical solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Power Query, DAX, and related Microsoft technologies.

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will analyze complex datasets, identify patterns and trends, develop innovative analytical approaches, and translate findings into meaningful business insights. This position will also evaluate solution performance, recommend improvements, and provide technical leadership across multiple assignments.

The role requires experience applying artificial intelligence technologies to analytics, business intelligence, or related data initiatives and the ability to identify opportunities where AI can enhance analytical capabilities and decision support.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience
  • At least 3 years of experience related to artificial intelligence technologies
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Power BI
  • Advanced experience with Power Query
  • Advanced experience developing DAX calculations and measures
  • Experience developing complex dashboards, reports, and data visualizations
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and business intelligence architecture
  • Experience analyzing complex datasets and identifying meaningful patterns, trends, and relationships
  • Experience translating business requirements into analytical and reporting solutions
  • Experience evaluating business intelligence solution performance and recommending improvements
  • Ability to develop analytical methodologies that produce actionable business insights
  • Experience serving as a technical expert across multiple projects or initiatives
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desired Skills

  • Experience integrating AI or machine learning capabilities into business intelligence or analytics solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or other Microsoft data and analytics technologies
  • Experience with advanced data modeling and semantic models
  • Experience working with large or complex enterprise datasets
  • Experience developing executive dashboards and decision-support tools
  • Experience establishing business intelligence standards, governance, or development practices
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to analysts or developers
  • Experience with SQL, data warehouses, data lakes, or similar data platforms
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide analytics initiatives
  • Experience influencing organizational strategy through data-driven analysis

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of business intelligence solutions
  • Develop advanced reports, dashboards, data models, and visualizations using Microsoft Power BI
  • Develop and optimize Power Query transformations and DAX calculations
  • Translate business and organizational requirements into effective analytical solutions
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, relationships, and actionable insights
  • Develop innovative analytical methodologies and approaches
  • Apply AI technologies where appropriate to enhance analytics and business intelligence capabilities
  • Evaluate business intelligence solution performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Recommend significant technical or analytical changes that support project and organizational objectives
  • Serve as a technical expert across multiple business intelligence and analytics initiatives
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance related to business intelligence technologies and practices
  • Develop data-driven insights that support strategic and operational decision-making
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, analysts, and organizational leadership
  • Ensure analytical solutions are accurate, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with organizational requirements
  • Support development of business intelligence standards, methodologies, and best practices
  • Evaluate emerging business intelligence, analytics, and AI technologies
  • Help shape the future direction of organizational business intelligence capabilities and practices
  • Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to leadership and other stakeholders
