Black Duck is seeking a Snowflake Cloud Data Architect that will be responsible for defining, articulating, implementing and realizing our data architecture strategy to meet strategic Data Analytics goalsThis role will involve a broad spectrum of application, information, technical, data and business architectures with an Enterprise focus across a global group of stakeholders.  The Business Applications team is a high-performing, global team that is responsible for making business processes more efficient through automation, reduction of manual, low value work thus allowing the company to operation efficiently, make better choices and ultimately be more profitable.   

The ideal candidate will have a strong background and hands-on experience on collecting information and maintaining proper methodologies for gathering data.  Specifically, the individual has participated in large scale Snowflake implementation efforts that seeks to optimize the way in which Black Duck organizes and leverages data for analysis.  This individual must have excellent interpersonal communications, diligent time management skills, is team-oriented, and has a strong work ethic. Snowflake and professional certifications are highly recommended.  

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Define and implement standards and processes to ensure alignment with the architectural strategy and goals of the business 
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure data architecture alignment with key portfolio initiatives based on cost, functionality and practicality 
  • Document and articulate relationships between business goals and information technology solutions 
  • Conduct architecture assessments and reviews to ensure alignment with business goals and strategies 
  • Provide in-depth technical architectural support during program/project solution analysis and design to ensure road-map alignment 
  • Champion data quality and effective use of available information 
  • Participate in POC evaluations of technologies and tools 
  • Implement data handling, cleansing, and standardization procedures and business transformation rules and logic (ETL). 
  • Develop, implement and maintain scripts, functions, stored procedures, and ETL jobs 
  • Translate complex business issues and requirements into structured analytics use cases 
  • Rapidly develop/test/iterate analyses that will reveal insight and opportunities for the client and build end to end analytical solutions 

Key requirements: 

  • 7+ years of database focused IT or software development experience with extensive integration experience. 
  • 5+ years of experience implementing complex queries against large datasets to support business intelligence functions. 
  • 5+ years of full lifecycle data warehousing experience or 5+ years of experience in implementing data integration efforts in large scale projects. 
  • 5+ years of experience with ETL, application and database performance tuning and debugging. 
  • Lead technical pieces of client data warehouse implementations and on-boarding efforts 
  • Help clients troubleshoot the implementation of the product within their systems 
  • Identify, document, triage and track issues to ensure resolution 
  • Strong database and data warehouse experience, including recent experience writing and tuning complex SQL queries 
  • Experience and understanding of large-scale infrastructure-as-a-service platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, OpenStack) 
  • Experience implementing ETL pipelines using custom and packaged tools 
  • Experience using AWS services such as S3, Kinesis, Elastic MapReduce, Data Pipeline 
  • Presence: enthusiastic and high energy, but also poised, confident and extremely professional 
  • Innovative and assertive, with the ability to pick up new technologies and assess situations quickly 
  • Exercises listening skills, takes time to truly understand client needs and address them 
  • Track record of delivering results in a dynamic enterprise or start-up environment 
  • Strong sense of ownership and high attention to detail  
  • Creative and analytical problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
