Senior DevOps Manager

Black Duck Software is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Manager to lead and optimize our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD processes, and site reliability strategies. The ideal candidate will have 14+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, and Cloud Engineering, with a strong technical background in Kubernetes, CI/CD automation, cloud security, and infrastructure as code (IaC). This role requires strong leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams, improve system performance, and drive automation initiatives for highly scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:

• Lead and mentor a high-performing DevOps/SRE team to drive automation, security, and system reliability improvements.
• Define and implement DevOps best practices, SRE principles, and cloud optimization strategies.
• Develop and execute cost-optimization initiatives, ensuring efficient resource utilization and cloud cost reduction.
• Align DevOps strategies with business objectives to enhance service availability, performance, and security.

Cloud & Infrastructure Management:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Spearhead the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
• Manage and optimize containerized applications using Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
• Implement microservices architecture, service mesh solutions (Istio, Linkerd), and cloud-native technologies.

CI/CD & Automation:

• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, ArgoCD, Harness, and GitHub Actions.
• Automate deployment processes to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and minimize configuration errors.
• Enhance DevSecOps capabilities by embedding security automation, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks into CI/CD workflows.

Monitoring, Incident Management & Reliability Engineering:

• Implement and manage monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Pingdom) for proactive incident response.
• Lead incident management processes, reducing MTTR through effective root cause analysis and postmortem reviews.
• Develop self-healing infrastructure to improve system resilience and minimize downtime.

Security & Compliance:

• Champion cloud security best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Implement automated security testing tools and enforce a secure software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Drive threat modelling, access control mechanisms, and policy enforcement across infrastructure.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Partner with engineering, security, and product teams to align DevOps practices with development goals.
• Foster a DevOps culture that enhances cross-functional collaboration and continuous learning.
• Drive technical innovation through training, coaching, and mentorship of engineers.

• Containerization & Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm
• Security & Compliance: DevSecOps, SAST, SCA, Threat Modelling
• Monitoring & Observability: Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK
• Programming & Automation: Python, Shell, Java
• Agile & DevOps Methodologies: Scrum, SAFe Agile

Experience & Certifications:

• 14+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or similar roles.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving DevOps transformations.
• Strong background in cloud security, automation, and performance optimization.
• Certifications preferred: CKA, CKAD, CKS, AWS/GCP/Azure, Terraform Certifications.
