Senior Accountant - Japan

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to support our growing operations across Japan, China, Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan in the software industry. This role will be responsible for managing accounting and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and driving process improvements across multiple APAC entities. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting expertise, experience working in a regional role, and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multinational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close for Japan, China, Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements in compliance with IFRS, JGAAP, and local GAAPs.
• Support multi-entity consolidations and ensure alignment with corporate reporting standards.
• Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of intercompany transactions across APAC entities.

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Revenue Recognition

• Oversee vendor payments, customer invoicing, and collections across supported countries.
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including VAT, GST, withholding tax, and corporate tax.
• Work closely with revenue accounting teams to ensure proper revenue recognition under ASC 606 for software contracts, subscriptions, and services.
• Coordinate with the shared service center for AP and AR processes.

Tax, Compliance & Audit Support

• Assist with tax filings and regulatory compliance for Japan, China, Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan, working with external tax advisors.
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely submission of required documentation.
• Partner with corporate finance and tax teams to ensure alignment with global policies.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies across supported countries.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the software or technology industry.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, JGAAP, and other APAC accounting standards.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and financial reporting tools.
• Fluent in Japanese and English (both written and spoken); proficiency in Mandarin, Korean, or another APAC language is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multinational environment.
