Senior Manager – Accounting & Tax (India)

Role Overview

The Senior Manager – Accounting & Tax will lead all India‑based accounting, statutory compliance, and tax operations for Black Duck Software. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with Indian GAAP, GST, direct tax, transfer pricing, and global corporate policies. The position partners closely with global finance teams, external auditors, and regulatory authorities, while managing and developing a high‑performing local accounting team.

 

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Lead end‑to‑end India accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and month‑end close.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements under Indian GAAP and alignment with global US GAAP reporting requirements.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules for completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and settlement processes.
  • Perform monthly intercompany invoice calculations based on the India income statement for BD US and BD Ireland.
  • Prepare intercompany invoices using ClearTax and post them accurately into NetSuite.
  • Support global consolidation and reporting cycles, including variance analysis and management reporting.

Taxation & Statutory Compliance

  • Oversee all direct and indirect tax compliance, including GST, TDS, corporate income tax, and transfer pricing documentation.
  • Prepare and submit GSTR‑1, including VAT outward details from intercompany invoices.
  • Prepare and submit GSTR‑3B, including VAT input tax details from AP invoices.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate filings and timely responses to tax authorities.
  • Manage tax assessments, audits, and notices; represent the company before tax authorities when required.
  • Ensure compliance with Companies Act, RBI, FEMA, and other statutory regulations.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the business.

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Lead statutory audits, tax audits, and internal audits for the India entity.
  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to SOX or equivalent global compliance frameworks.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and control environment.

Business Partnering & Leadership

  • Act as the primary finance point of contact for India operations, partnering with HR, Legal, Procurement, and global finance teams.
  • Provide financial insights to support business decisions, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Manage direct reports, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and capability development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with global teams to align India processes with corporate policies and systems.

Systems & Process Excellence

  • Drive automation and process optimization across accounting and tax workflows.
  • Demonstrate strong hands‑on expertise in NetSuite, including module configuration, transaction processing, reporting, saved searches, and workflow optimization.
  • Enhance NetSuite usage for intercompany accounting, GST reporting, and month‑end close activities.
  • Support ERP enhancements, system implementations, and integration with global platforms such as ClearTax and other compliance tools.
  • Ensure data integrity, documentation quality, and adherence to global system governance standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) required.
  • Additional certifications (CMA, CPA, or tax specialization) are a plus.

Experience

  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and tax, preferably in a multinational or SaaS/technology environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian GAAP, GST, direct tax, transfer pricing, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience with US GAAP and global consolidation processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing audits, leading teams, and partnering with global stakeholders.
  • Hands‑on experience with NetSuite and ClearTax strongly preferred.
