Black Duck is seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of customer and sales data across Salesforce and related gotomarket systems. This role operates as a senior professional individual contributor responsible for executing and applying established data governance standards, resolving complex data issues, and supporting the ongoing health of account, contact, lead, and opportunity data.

The role requires deep practical knowledge of Salesforce data structures, GTM processes, and downstream impacts to territory alignment, quotas, renewals, forecasting, and reporting. The Senior Data Governance Analyst works independently within defined governance frameworks, applies judgment to nonstandard cases, and partners closely with Sales Operations, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success, and Systems teams to ensure trusted data across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Account Data Governance Standards- Independently manage account data validation, enrichment, and maintenance activities in Salesforce. Apply established data rules to ensure required fields, enrichment attributes, and structural standards are consistently maintained across accounts to support sales execution and reporting accuracy.
  • Account Enrichment & Exception Handling- Perform account enrichment using thirdparty data providers (e.g., zoominfo) and resolve enrichment exceptions related to mismatched company names, websites, addresses, industries, or employee counts. Identify root causes of enrichment failures and apply corrective actions within defined governance guidelines.
  • Account Hierarchy & Deduplication- Maintain accurate account hierarchies by applying Domestic Ultimate and Global Ultimate logic. Identify, validate, and merge duplicate account records using established criteria, ensuring preservation of customer history, identifiers, and hierarchy integrity. Support M&Adriven merges following documented crossfunctional review processes.
  • Territory & Ownership Data Support- Execute territory designation, segmentation, and ownership updates based on approved GTM rules. Validate that ownership or territory changes do not negatively impact active revenue, renewals, quota alignment, or hierarchy consistency, escalating exceptions as required.
  • Contact & Lead Data Integrity- Apply governance rules for contact and lead maintenance, including account association, ownership updates, merges, and email change handling. Ensure compliance with data privacy and consent requirements while maintaining clean, accurate contact and lead data for sales and marketing execution.
  • Opportunity Data Quality Support- Support opportunity data hygiene by validating opportunity business types, renewal alignment to active customer accounts, and deletion requests. Ensure related opportunity teams remain aligned following account or ownership changes.
  • Data Governance Case Resolution- Independently manage and resolve inbound Data Governance cases submitted through Salesforce or the DG mailbox. Apply governance standards consistently, assess nonroutine requests, communicate outcomes clearly, and document decisions for auditability and repeatability.
  • Continuous Process Improvement- Identify recurring data quality issues, operational gaps, or inefficiencies within existing governance processes. Provide recommendations for process improvements, documentation updates, or automation opportunities to senior team members and functional partners.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in Sales Operations, Data Governance, CRM operations, or data qualityfocused roles.
  • Strong handson experience with Salesforce (Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities), including data maintenance, validation, and bulk updates.
  • Solid understanding of account hierarchies, territory models, ownership rules, and GTM data dependencies.
  • Experience working with data enrichment tools (e.g., D&B, ZoomInfo) and resolving enrichment discrepancies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and comfort using tools such as Salesforce Inspector or similar utilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve moderately complex, nonroutine data issues using judgment and established frameworks.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain governance decisions to crossfunctional stakeholders.
