New York

Black Ore is building the leading AI platform designed to accelerate financial services. The company's flagship offering, Tax Autopilot, leverages proprietary AI agents to automate tax preparation and compliance, helping CPA & tax firms overcome the talent shortage and accelerate growth for their practice.

Founded in 2022, we launched with $60 million in early stage funding from some of the world’s leading investors including a16z, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, Oak HC/FT, Trust Ventures and leading tech founders/angel investors including Jason Gardner (Founder and CEO of Marqeta), Max Levchin (Founder of Paypal and Affirm), Tom Glocer (Former CEO of Thomson Reuters), Gokul Rajaram, and Mark Britto (EVP, CPO, PayPal).

Our team has an incredibly ambitious vision to completely transform the way businesses and consumers interact in financial services. We’re looking to hire strong team members to grow the team. Some of the traits we look for are:

  • Owner Mentality - Desire to take initiative, identify problems, and implement solutions
  • Mission Driven - Passion for building AI/ML solutions that reimagine how businesses and consumers operate
  • Intellectually Curious - Excitement going deep for building detailed understanding of the function, role, customer, and problem space
  • Team Oriented - Ability to collaborate respectfully and put the team above the self

The Role

We’re hiring a Product Manager to own key parts of our tax product. You’ll decide what we build and why, and work with engineering and design to ship software that tax professionals rely on every filing season. A CPA background and hands-on U.S. tax experience are what set you apart: you’ll understand our users’ workflows, judgment calls and pain points firsthand, and turn that into a clear product strategy.

What You Will Do

  • Own the roadmap for one or more product areas from discovery through launch and iteration.
  • Talk regularly with customers to find the highest-impact problems in tax preparation and review.
  • Write clear PRDs and user stories that turn complex tax rules into scoped, buildable requirements, with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with engineering and design to make trade-offs on scope, timing and quality, and keep the work moving to launch.
  • Set success metrics for your features, track adoption and accuracy, and use data and feedback to decide what comes next.
  • Plan launches with go-to-market, support and customer success, including enablement and release communication.
  • Make sure the product keeps pace with tax law changes, IRS updates and filing-season deadlines.
  • Act as the tax subject-matter expert across the product team when needed.

Who You Are

You’re a product manager who started your career in tax. You’ve lived through filing season, so you know where the work slows down, where errors happen and what tax professionals need from their software. You care about building things people use, you’re comfortable making calls with incomplete information, and you can move easily between a conversation about partnership allocations and a debate with engineers about scope. Most of all, you want to use what you know about tax to change how the work gets done.

What you bring:
  • 3+ years of product management experience, ideally on B2B SaaS or fintech products
  • A CPA license or equivalent U.S. tax background, with hands-on preparation or review experience across Forms 1040, 1120-S, 1065 and/or 1041
  • A track record of shipping products from idea to launch and measuring the results
  • Strong product judgment: you can prioritize, say no, and explain why
  • Comfort working closely with engineers and talking about technical trade-offs
  • Excellent written communication, especially specs, decision docs and stakeholder updates
  • Analytical, detail-oriented and comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-moving environment

Preferred

  • Experience building or advising on tax or accounting software
  • Experience at a CPA firm serving business returns (partnerships, S corps, trusts)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-powered products
What we offer:
  • Competitive salary and equity based compensation
  • Best-in-Class health benefits
    • Platinum, 100% Employer-paid medical, dental and vision insurance
    • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
    • Additional Health programs (e.g., One Medical, Talkspace, Kindbody)
  • 401K, Roth 401k and other employer sponsored investment benefits
  • Parental Leave
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Relocation support to Austin, NYC or SF (as needed)
