Consultant, Professional Services
Blend is a diverse team of problem solvers who believe that the world’s financial resources should be more accessible. Our cloud banking platform is used by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and over 330 other financial services firms to acquire more customers, increase productivity, and deliver end-to-end digital experiences. Our software enables our customers to process an average of more than $5 billion in loans per day, making it possible for consumers to reach their financial goals faster and lead better lives. Come do work that matters.
As a Professional Services Consultant at Blend, you understand Blend’s platform and the client’s needs to help deliver a solution that exceeds expectations. You work with teams from across the company to rapidly implement and improve our product offerings, providing project leadership and configuration expertise on Blend’s products. The ideal candidate is excited to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, highly visible role.
You project-manage the deployment for your engagements: you plan the work, configure the product, manage dependencies and risk, secure sign-offs, and act as the primary client contact through go-live. You present in person and remotely to explain how Blend products work and how they should be implemented, and you translate client needs into clear written requirements for Product Owners and the technical integration teams. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and juggling multiple engagements at once. As you grow in the role, you take on more complex, higher-risk engagements, become a go-to expert for a product or domain, and raise the bar for other consultants. Similar titles include Deployment Lead, Implementation Consultant, Technical Project Manager, and Professional Services Lead.
How you’ll contribute
- Learn and master Blend products in order to tackle customer business challenges as the configuration and implementation lead, working toward product certification and being able to demo Blend against real use cases.
- Own the engagement end-to-end: develop and maintain project plans, forecast dates, integrate customer testing schedules into the implementation plan, track progress, manage dependencies, risks, and issues, and own delivery to schedule and budget while flagging and escalating critical risks early.
- Present in person and remotely to customer business and technical stakeholders to explain how Blend products work and how they should be implemented, running demos, walkthroughs, and working sessions that keep the engagement aligned. Occasional onsite travel to client locations is expected.
- Consult with lender business and technical resources to produce business requirements and functional design documents, and partner with customer business teams to understand business objectives and integration requirements.
- Translate client needs into clear, comprehensive written requirements and specifications for Product Owners and the technical integration teams, so product and engineering can build and integrate against a precise, unambiguous scope.
- Complete and manage end-to-end software and platform configuration changes based on client requirements, from screens and application settings to branding and environment changes.
- Plan and execute integration testing and user acceptance testing of customer implementations, triage and troubleshoot defects, and run launch activities to a successful go-live.
- Collaborate with Blend Product and Engineering teams to share customer requirements, influence product priorities, and further improve Blend core product features.
- Act as the engagement manager and primary client contact for your accounts, running regular meetings, leading discovery, recommending concrete solution options within known patterns, and owning customer satisfaction. As scope grows, structure ambiguous client asks into clear requirements and negotiate trade-offs across timeline, complexity, and risk.
Who you are
- Relevant experience with full-lifecycle package software implementations (SaaS preferred). Candidates with broader experience will own multiple, more complex, higher-risk engagements and act as a subject-matter expert.
- Proven ability to project-manage an engagement, running multiple projects at once, including project plan preparation and maintenance, scope control, and project risk management.
- Able to speak with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, present in person and remotely, explain how products work and should be implemented, and tailor the message to each audience.
- Skilled at writing clear requirements and specifications for Product Owners and technical integration teams, translating business needs into precise, buildable scope.
- Strong attention to detail with clear, logical thinking, ensuring configurations, requirements, and plans are accurate and complete.
- Hands-on technical configuration experience, such as screens and user interface, application settings or parameters, and branding.
- Basic to intermediate software development experience, with familiarity with software programming principles and logic-based structures; working knowledge of Velocity is a plus.
- Business analysis experience across process design, requirements gathering, and synthesis; Green Belt, Six Sigma, or similar training is a nice to have.
- Working knowledge of JSON and APIs, with the ability to troubleshoot integrations and collaborate with Product and Engineering teams for resolution.
- Ability to propose creative technical solutions to challenging problems and to communicate technical concepts and specifications clearly and efficiently.
- Strong personal initiative and drive to execute with minimal oversight, and experience working in a multifaceted environment wearing many hats.
- Banking or finance industry experience is preferred.
