Overview

Join Blitz at a pivotal moment as we pioneer the world’s first global game activity tracker. With millions of daily games played worldwide, Blitz is at the forefront of offering stats, insights, coaching, and events to a rapidly expanding user base. We’re looking for a QA Lead who can take ownership of our product's quality, ensuring every major release meets the high standards our users expect. As the QA Lead, you'll work autonomously and efficiently to oversee testing processes, lead the QA team, and directly contribute to the quality of our product. You’ll identify gaps in testing coverage, support team members' growth, and build a quality-driven culture. 

This position requires all hires to be onsite Monday - Thursday out of our Los Angeles (Playa Vista) office, with the option to WFH on Friday.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Quality Assurance: Oversee QA for a globally distributed gaming stats tracking software with over 1 million DAU.
  • Build & Lead the QA Team: Recruit top talent, shape the culture of the internal QA team, and set clear expectations for quality.
  • Manage External QA Partners: Establish and maintain relationships with external QA partners as needed.
  • Automate Workflows: Identify and implement opportunities for automation in QA processes, boosting team efficiency.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously develop and refine QA processes to ensure high-quality software with minimal bugs.
  • Hands-On Testing: Roll up your sleeves and participate in manual QA testing, ensuring every release meets our quality standards.

What It Takes

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of client-server applications.
  • Experience: 5+ years of testing experience, including 2+ years in a QA lead or management role.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to articulate requirements and priorities across teams.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives with a sense of urgency.
  • Manual Testing Expertise: Skilled at generating and executing manual tests, especially for edge cases.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Systematic approach to identifying root causes and debugging issues.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Capable of working closely with developers, product teams, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, gather feedback, and communicate priorities.
  • Game Knowledge: Familiarity with our supported games (League of Legends, Team Fight Tactics, Valorant, Fortnite, Apex, and CS).

Nice To Have

  • Test Type Knowledge: Understanding of various test types such as smoke, regression, etc.
  • Project Management Tools: Familiarity with project management software (Linear preferred).
  • Gaming Passion: Enthusiasm for video games and helping others improve.
  • Programming Skills: Basic understanding of a programming language (bonus for JavaScript or Elixir).
