AI Agent Development & Data Collection Intern
The Position
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented AI Intern to support the development of an AI agent. This role will focus on data collection, dataset preparation, and structuring high-quality training data to enable effective and intelligent agent performance.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to build practical experience developing AI agents, gain exposure to real world AI system design, receive mentorship from experienced practitioners, and contribute to impactful, AI driven initiatives.
This is a 10-week-long summer program, running on or around Friday, May 29, through Friday, August 7, 2026. Interns will work approximately 40 hours per week in a hybrid model, based in the University of Maryland, Baltimore area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect, curate, and organize structured and unstructured data from various sources (APIs, web content, internal documents, user interactions, etc.)
- Clean, preprocess, and validate datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Design data schemas and annotation guidelines for agent training
- Assist in labeling, tagging, and categorizing data for supervised and reinforcement learning tasks
- Identify gaps in datasets and propose strategies to improve data coverage and diversity
- Collaborate with AI engineers to align data collection efforts with agent objectives
- Document data pipelines, collection methodologies, and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and ethical AI practices
Qualifications of the ideal candidate
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Engineering, or a related field
- Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship now or in the future
- Available to work for the duration of 10 weeks on or around Friday, May 29th – Friday, August 7th, 2026
- Basic understanding of machine learning and natural language processing concepts
- Experience with data cleaning and preprocessing
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple task
- Familiarity with AI agents, LLM-based systems, or conversational AI
- Knowledge of APIs and web scraping techniques
- Understanding of prompt engineering concepts
- Experience working with CSV, databases, or data pipelines
Pay Range Per Hour: $26
