Sr. Public Relations Manager

Remote, US

At Bloomerang, we believe change happens on purpose. We champion the power and potential of nonprofits, igniting next-level impact with the team and technology built for purpose. Our powerful giving platform and stellar support enable tens of thousands of nonprofits to raise more, recruit more, and retain more, fueling maximum impact and raising the bar on what’s possible for the nonprofit sector. That's why, even as the nonprofit sector sees declines in giving, Bloomerang customers raise more year over year.

We're also in the business of creating thriving employees. Join a mission-driven culture built on our core values of Simplify, Care and Act. We know our people are the key to our success, and we're proud to be home to some of the most innovative and skilled individuals in the workforce today. Come feel invigorated and unstoppable with us!

The Role

You will own the earned media strategy and execution for Bloomerang. This role operates within a fast paced, velocity driven environment, ensuring Bloomerang is part of industry conversations the moment news breaks. You will lead Bloomerang’s media relations and pitching, drive our bylines and op-ed pipeline, secure award and podcast placements, and establish Bloomerang’s trendjacking muscle. You bring newsroom-level judgment about what's a story and what isn't, existing relationships with tech and nonprofit-sector reporters, and the instinct to move on a trend the same day it surfaces, not the same quarter.

You'll work closely with our Director, Brand Communications to make sure every media moment ladders up to one consistent brand narrative. You're comfortable using AI tools to speed up pitch personalization, draft byline copy, and monitor media opportunities, without losing the judgment and relationship-building that make earned media actually land.

What You Will Do

  • Own Bloomerang’s earned media strategy, building a proactive pipeline that turns product launches, data, and research findings into pitch-ready stories instead of waiting for news to react to.
  • Own media relations and pitching across tier , tech and nonprofit trade press, building and maintaining direct relationships with reporters who cover the sector and news related to our industry.
  • Evaluate outlet and placement opportunities through both traditional SOV impact and AI-citation visibility (GEO/AEO), adjusting pitch strategy as the two increasingly diverge.
  • Write and place bylines, op-eds, and press releases, working directly with executives to translate their point of view into pitch-ready copy.
  • Manage trendjacking response, moving quickly when news cycles create an opening for Bloomerang's point of view.
  • Manage the awards submission calendar, collaborating with internal stakeholders to gather submission materials and write successful applications.
  • Own earned media reporting, tracking placements, share of voice, and coverage quality, and separating earned coverage from any paid or sponsored activity in every report.
  • Manage podcast and Substack pitching and placements as owned-channel extensions of the earned media strategy.
  • Use AI tools to scale pitch personalization, monitor media opportunities in real time, and speed up first drafts of bylines and award submissions, while maintaining brand voice and editorial quality.

What You Need to Succeed

  • 8+ years of experience in public relations or media relations, ideally with in-house or agency experience in B2B, SaaS, or technology.
  • A track record of securing earned media placements, judging which stories are worth pursuing before pitching them.
  • Established relationships with journalists and editors covering technology, SaaS, or the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong writing skills across formats: pitches, bylines, op-eds, and press releases.
  • Comfort operating with same-day speed on trendjacking and reactive media opportunities.
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) and their application to pitch personalization, media monitoring, and content drafting, with the judgment to know when a human relationship, not an AI draft, is what closes the placement.
  • Experience managing an awards submission calendar and podcast placement pipeline.
  • Experience working directly with C-suite executives to shape and pitch their point of view, translating their priorities and voice into media-ready angles under real deadline pressure.

Nice to Haves But Not Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Prior experience managing or transitioning work from an external PR agency.
  • A deep understanding of the nonprofit space, including sector trends and how fundraisers and executive directors talk about their work.
