Senior Software Engineer (C++)

We are seeking a dedicated C++ Software Engineer to join our Analytics team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our proprietary database, IMF. IMF is an in-memory analytical database written in C++, serving as a strategic component that powers many of our core features. It operates within Kubernetes on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and integrates with Kafka and other services via gRPC.
As a C++ Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing new features and maintaining our databases in collaboration with other software engineers and DevOps engineers. The team operates remotely within the Central European Time Zone. However, we are also happy to meet with you in Brno, Czechia, or Bratislava, Slovakia, where our headquarters are located.
The salary for this position ranges from 3800 EUR gross per month, depending on your level of seniority, with potential for significant increases based on your performance and contributions to the team.
Responsibilities
- Develop, design, maintain, and test our proprietary database written in C++.
- Work with gRPC and Kafka, the main interfaces of our database.
- Contribute to database design, ensuring data consistency, high availability, observability, and efficiency.
- Assist and troubleshoot throughout the software lifecycle, including design, deployment, and operation stages (build it and run it).
Qualifications
Experience:
- Prior experience in software development with C++.
- Solid grasp of engineering principles and practices.
- Understanding of design patterns and strategies frequently utilized in distributed systems and databases.
- Experience working with Kubernetes and cloud-based services.
- Interest in Rust, Go, or Python will be to your advantage.
Skills:
- Good at automating tasks and scripting with Python, Go, or Shell (for basic Linux tasks and Kubernetes management).
- Experienced in handling and resolving incidents.
Tools:

- Good at analyzing issues and finding solutions.
Communication:
- Can communicate well and work well with remote teams.

- Get to know the team, the company, and key processes.

- Learn about IMF, its internals, codebase, infrastructure, release process, tools, and product.
First 90 Days:
- Actively develop IMF improvements and features.
- Collaborate on projects with another C++ engineer, from specification and break-down to implementation.
- Review backlog items, prioritize IMF improvements, and refine tasks together with other team members. Contribute to the entire development process.
First 180 Days:
- Take ownership of specific tasks and projects, working independently.
- Participate in discussions about the high-level design of IMF components and features.
- Influence the IMF roadmap.
- Understand the team's direction and help shape our future.
