Space-based Electronic Warfare Training and Operations Specialist (Electronic Warfare (EW) Senior Instructor)

Position Overview:

As a Space-based Electronic Warfare Training and Operations Specialist, your role is pivotal in contributing to the success of the Joint Commercial Operation Cell's (JCO) Training program.  You'll contribute to the design and execution of comprehensive training events (initial, advanced, and continuous training), help develop operational procedures, develop training materials for mission related JCO software tools, and ensure the readiness and proficiency of personnel engaged in JCO operations.  Your primary role will be to support EW mission set, however cross training into one of the other mission areas will be expected within the first year of employment.  The JCO is comprised of crew members across three globally distributed regional cells, as a trainer the ability to travel internationally is required.  Additionally, you'll be required to provide operational support to the mission set, stay current in operational capability, and maintain crew proficiency.  As part of this function, you will contribute to strategic development, and foster continuous improvement in training processes and methodologies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the Electromagnetic Spectrum and/or Space-based Cyber Operations.
  • Develop and execute training programs tailored to the needs of personnel engaged in JCO operations.
  • Conduct engaging and informative training sessions, incorporating adult learning principles and accommodating diverse learning styles.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to trainees, fostering a conducive learning environment and addressing individual learning needs.
  • Assist efforts to improve training processes and instructional methodologies, leveraging feedback and data analysis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Operate JCO operational and prototype tools & command and control systems during training sessions and provide technical assistance to users as needed.
  • Contribute to strategic development initiatives, including the adoption of project management and operations management practices to optimize training programs' effectiveness.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in software tools and training methodologies, integrating new techniques and technologies into training/exercise programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess training program effectiveness, gather requirements, and identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Support operational activities as required, ensuring seamless integration between training and operational functions within the JCO training and exercise program.
  • Train and qualify to perform JCO crew operations and perform a monthly number of shifts as designated by the Training and Exercise (TrEx) Lead in coordination with the JCO Regional Coordinator.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Electromagnetic Spectrum as it relates to PNT, jamming, & SATCOM, concepts of offensive and defensive Space Control, and/or Space-based Cyber Operational capabilities.
  • BS/BE in in Engineering, Physics, or other STEM related field
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in a technical or space-related field, with a focus on adult learning principles and diverse learning styles.
  • Proficiency in creating training materials using Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), and the Canvas Leaning Management application.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively and facilitate interactive learning experiences. Since JCO operates across 25+ countries, this includes the ability to operate within the confines of other cultures. 
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing training-related challenges.
  • Self-motivation with a collaborative mindset, capable of working effectively within a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to travel to deliver training abroad as needed.  Must have an active passport. 
  • Ability to work shifts to facilitate global training and/or support operations as needed. 
  • Basic understanding of IT support principles, particularly in administering software tools.
  • Must be a US Citizen to meet security requirements.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the Electromagnetic Spectrum as it relates to PNT, jamming, & SATCOM, concepts of offensive and defensive Space Control, and Space-based Cyber Operational capabilities
  • Experience in Space Domain Awareness (SDA), Orbital Warfare (OW), and/or intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR)
  • MS/ME or higher in Engineering, Physics, or other STEM related field.
  • Strong space background as Satellite Communications specialist, Space Aggressor, and/or space-based cyber professional.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and one or more other languages, including (but not limited to): Korean, French, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, German, or Japanese, to facilitate effective communication with diverse trainee populations.
  • Expertise in process improvement methodologies and instructional design principles, with a track record of driving measurable improvements in training effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Agile program management practices.
  • Familiarity with military operations or previous experience in a military training environment

Required Education: 4+ years in Project Management with a Bachelor of Science degree OR associate degree with 2 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years of Project Management experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Requirement: This position may require the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for a security clearance, US Citizenship is required, and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check. Eligibility for a TS/SCI Clearance will be assessed as part of the onboarding process or based on programmatic needs.
