Program Duration: January 11 through March 31, 2027 (11.5 weeks). Residents work 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch.

Position Description
Ready to launch your cybersecurity career? The Bluestaq Cybersecurity Residency Program is an 11.5-week, paid, cohort-based program built around one goal: turning promising early-career cyber talent into full-time Bluestaq Associate Cybersecurity Engineers. This isn't a coffee-run internship. From week one you'll do real security work on the systems our U.S. Space Force customers rely on every day, guided by a dedicated engineer-mentor, and you'll close out the program by presenting your capstone work directly to Bluestaq engineering leadership.

Who We’re Looking For
We're offering the residency to early-career Cyber talent ready to commit to a full-time engineering role, including: final-year associate, undergraduate, or master's students (graduating by December 31, 2026), recent graduates in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Security, Data Science, or related fields. If you're excited about learning fast, collaborating, and shipping real-world solutions, we want you on our team.

What You’ll Do
At Bluestaq, our residents aren't confined to one technology stack. You'll explore multiple technologies while contributing to impactful projects.

  • System hardening: Secure systems using industry best practices and DISA STIGs.
  • Vulnerability remediation and analysis: Identify, prioritize, and fix vulnerabilities across our environments.
  • SIEM engineering and log analysis: Build and tune SIEM tooling and analyze logs to detect and investigate suspicious activity.
  • Incident response: Support detection, triage, containment, and recovery when security events occur.
  • ATO/RMF documentation and review: Help prepare and review authorization packages and security documentation under the Risk Management Framework.
  • AWS security engineering and maintenance: Configure, secure, and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS.
  • Patch testing and implementation: Test patches before rollout and help deploy them with minimal disruption.
  • Access control and auditing: Implement and verify access controls and support audits that keep systems compliant.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Security fundamentals: You understand core concepts like the CIA triad, least privilege, authentication and authorization, and common vulnerabilities and attack techniques. Coursework, labs, CTFs, a cyber club, or personal projects all count.
  • Operating systems: You’re comfortable working in Linux environments, including command-line use and basic administration.
  • Networking basics: You know how TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and common protocols work.
  • Cloud familiarity: You have exposure to cloud platforms, ideally AWS, through coursework, certifications, or hands-on projects.
  • Compliance awareness (a plus): You’ve seen frameworks like NIST SP 800-53, the Risk Management Framework (RMF), or DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). Not required, because we’ll teach you.
  • Log and SIEM exposure (a plus): You’ve worked with tools like Splunk or Elastic, or analyzed logs in a lab or class.
  • You're capable of working in a team-centric environment.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • You're passionate about big data technologies and excited to work with cloud infrastructures.
  • You have ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • You’re available to work full-time on-site for the full program (January 11 – March 31, 2027).

Benefits: This position is not eligible for employment benefits such as 401k, Medical, Dental, or Vision Insurance. This position is eligible for sick pay as per the Colorado Healthy Families & Workplaces Act (HFWA).

Salary Range (US)

$40 - $40 USD

Clearance Requirement: This position may require an active TS/SCI Clearance. Current clearance holders are strongly encouraged to apply. If you don't currently hold one, Bluestaq will sponsor eligible candidates through the clearance process based on program needs.

Relocation: Relocation assistance is available for full-time positions.
