Payment Terms: Approximately $25 per hour (negotiable), for up to 10 hours per week, paid upon submission of approved invoices for completed work.

Independent Contractor Engagement Terms:
This independent contractor will be retained solely for project-based, outcome-driven services and will not be an employee, agent, or representative of Blue Star Families. The independent contractor:
- Will provide their own tools, equipment, and software necessary for completing deliverables.
- Is responsible for determining work methods, scheduling, and location of work.
- Maintains full control over how services are executed.
- Will invoice BSF on agreed terms and is responsible for their own tax obligations, insurance, and business expenses.
- May perform work for other clients and is not subject to BSF employee policies or supervision.
Project Summary
This engagement seeks to contract one independent consultant per military branch (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force) under a 1099 independent contractor agreement, for up to 10 hours per week over a six-month project term.
The Military Branch Outreach Careers Consultant will design and implement outreach initiatives targeting military spouses and veterans affiliated with their respective branch. This project supports the visibility of Blue Star Careers programs and facilitates connections to career and development resources.
Project Based Scope of Work
- Develop a written outreach strategy specific to their branch's community and submit a monthly progress summary.
- Design and host at least one virtual event or webinar per month to promote the Blue Star Careers program.
- Draft and contribute to marketing or communication materials, tailored to their service branch and audience.
- Compile and submit a monthly list of verified career and readiness resources relevant to their branch.
- Create content for Blue Star Families Community Neighborhood and Media Center, including articles, videos, or curated links.
- Engage local employers by sharing insights on the strengths of the branch community and reporting outreach results.
- Encourage organic engagement in discussion forums and virtual groups related to their branch.
- Coordinate with local Blue Star Families chapters, as needed, to amplify outreach efforts while maintaining independent operational discretion.
- Submit a final project summary report at the end of the six-month term.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent or current affiliation with the relevant military branch (active duty or retired within 12 months).
- Strong understanding of the branch's culture, needs, and support ecosystem.
- Seeking flexible, part-time contract opportunities.
- Experience with military family or transition assistance programs.
- Skilled in communication, relationship-building, and virtual engagement.
- Self-directed and deadline-oriented.
- Proficiency in common virtual tools (e.g., Google Suite, Zoom).
Deliverables & Payment Terms
All services shall be delivered in accordance with agreed deadlines and milestones. Payment structure to be outlined in a separate contract. BSF shall not direct how services are performed — only that deliverables meet agreed results.
