About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting loans in accordance with the company’s policy and risk appetite while maintaining focus on risk tolerance, growth, and profitability goals. This role may include reviewing delinquent or written off clients that are good prospects for litigation This position requires a high level of technical expertise, sound judgment and attention to detail with the ability to evaluate complex information to assess credit risk, create appropriate loan structures, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, credit policy/ procedures, to mitigate loss, delinquency and overall risk.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and optimize the underwriting litigation process for Bluevine
- Analyze and review delinquent files that could be good prospects for litigation
- Partner with external lawyers to follow the litigation process
- Review and approve/reject workout/hardship loans for existing clients, in accordance to the company’s policy and procedures
- Underwrite small business loan applications in accordance to the company’s policy and procedures and maximizing the process as necessary
- Interpret application data including financial statements, bank statements, tax returns, and business and personal credit reports
- Assess creditworthiness and structure loans within established guidelines and expectations
- Lead and manage operations analysts
What We Look For
- 8+ years of commercial underwriting experience, including 3+ years specializing in underwriting workout and hardship loans within a FinTech/bank/financial institution
- Experience in team and/or program management
- Small Business Lending experience required, solid credit fundamentals in a commercial environment. Formal credit training a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field preferred or equivalent relevant experience
- Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills
New Hire Base Salary Range: $89,600 - $107,520
New Hire On-Target Earnings (i.e. Base Salary plus Commissions if achieved) Range: $112,000 - $134,400
