Community Marketing Specialist

Jersey City, NJ

About Bluevine

Bluevine is the banking platform for small businesses that need to keep moving, redefining how entrepreneurs manage their money.

We bring banking, payments, billing, and access to capital into one connected place, so business owners can move money, pay vendors, get paid, and fund what’s next without switching tools or losing time. Everything we build starts with a deep understanding of how small businesses actually run, and we keep their money secure along the way.

Since 2013, more than 1 million small business owners across all 50 states have trusted us with their money, from contractors to dental offices to e-commerce brands. Today, over 500 employees come to work focused on making banking one less thing that slows them down.

All of this comes back to our team. We’re curious problem-solvers who learn fast, would rather solve problems together, and care deeply about the people we’re building for. If you want your work to make a real difference to business owners every day, and want to keep growing while you do it, apply below.

About the Role

Small business owners trust other small business owners. They turn to their peers, online communities, and trusted voices for advice, recommendations, and inspiration. At Bluevine, we believe there's a tremendous opportunity to become a more meaningful part of those conversations—and to turn those relationships into stronger awareness, trust, and advocacy for our brand.

We're looking for a creative, entrepreneurial Community Marketing Specialist to help us bring that opportunity to life.

This is a role for someone who loves figuring things out. Someone who spots opportunities others might miss, comes up with creative solutions to ambiguous challenges, and has the drive and resourcefulness to make things happen. You'll help develop new ways to engage small business owners, build authentic relationships, activate customer advocates, and experiment with initiatives that can expand Bluevine's reach and impact.

There isn't a predefined playbook for everything you'll work on. You'll have the opportunity to help shape our approach to community-led growth, test new ideas, and build programs from the ground up.

You'll report to our Senior Social & Community Manager and work closely with teams across Marketing, Product, and Customer Experience.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and activate new community marketing opportunities. Discover where small business owners connect, exchange ideas, seek recommendations, and influence one another. Develop creative ways for Bluevine to participate in these communities, build meaningful relationships, and reach new audiences.
  • Turn customers into advocates. Develop relationships with enthusiastic Bluevine customers and create new ways for them to connect, share experiences, contribute content, and advocate for our brand. Explore opportunities for customer ambassador programs, peer-to-peer engagement, and word-of-mouth marketing.
  • Create content and experiences that resonate with small business owners. Collaborate with customers, creators, and internal partners to develop compelling stories, educational content, community conversations, events, and other initiatives that deliver genuine value to the small business community.
  • Build trust through authentic community engagement. Participate in relevant conversations across Reddit, LinkedIn, online forums, and other communities. Bring a thoughtful, helpful, and authentic voice to discussions while strengthening Bluevine's reputation and relationships.
  • Build and experiment with new growth initiatives. Take ideas from concept to execution, testing new approaches to community engagement, partnerships, advocacy, and organic brand growth. Evaluate what's working, learn from what isn't, and identify opportunities to scale successful programs.
  • Translate community insights into marketing opportunities. Stay close to the conversations, trends, challenges, and interests that matter to business owners. Use those insights to inform new ideas, shape content, strengthen our messaging, and identify opportunities for the broader business.
  • Support Bluevine's existing social and reputation efforts. Partner with the team to maintain a strong, responsive presence across our social channels, online communities, and review platforms, while helping identify ways to make these programs more effective and impactful.

What We Look For

  • 2+ years of experience in community marketing, growth marketing, social media, customer advocacy, content marketing, or a related field, ideally including work on community initiatives, advocacy programs, partnerships, or grassroots campaigns. We're also open to unconventional backgrounds that demonstrate exceptional initiative, creativity, and experience bringing meaningful ideas to life.
  • Firsthand experience building or managing an online community, creating content for a niche audience, or growing an engaged following. You understand how to engage audiences on platforms such as Reddit, LinkedIn, and online forums, where peer recommendations and community participation influence decisions.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to develop original content, craft compelling narratives, and adapt your voice across audiences and platforms. You bring experience collaborating with creators or organizing virtual or in-person community events.
  • An analytical approach to marketing, using data, research, and qualitative insights to inform decisions, evaluate engagement, and refine your approach. You have a working knowledge of social listening, reputation management, community analytics, or marketing measurement.
  • A creative, resourceful mindset and an interest in tackling open-ended challenges, connecting ideas, and developing practical solutions. You're comfortable bringing ideas to the table, testing new approaches, and learning as you go.
  • The ability to turn ideas into action, manage initiatives independently, prioritize competing needs, and collaborate effectively, even when resources are limited. You don't need to have built a program from scratch, but you should be comfortable helping new initiatives take shape.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to connect with people, earn trust, and encourage meaningful participation. You're curious about what motivates people to join communities and advocate for brands they believe in.
  • Good judgment and a genuine interest in small businesses, with an understanding of the importance of credibility, authenticity, and representing a brand thoughtfully in public conversations.
  • Experience with startups, fintech, financial services, SaaS, or small business audiences is a plus.

At Bluevine, we recognize the importance of fair and competitive compensation. Exact compensation may vary based on a variety of factors, including your experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as market trends.
