Job Description:
Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Accounting Technician - Jr to join our team, supporting a large project at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This position requires providing professional accounting and financial management services with a focus on Federal financial processes, reconciliation, and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior team member, working collaboratively to deliver professional accounting and financial management services to Federal, State, Local, and other Government clients.
- Apply knowledge of the U.S. Standard General Ledger, Federal financial statements, and Federal budget execution to support fiscal operations.
- Reconcile and resolve fiscal discrepancies efficiently as a subject matter expert.
- Assess products and procedures for compliance with Government standards and financial management regulations under minimal supervision.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance fiscal accountability and operational efficiency.
- Support financial audits by providing detailed and accurate documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within Federal Government operations.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations and financial reconciliation processes.
- Basic typing and PC computer skills, including familiarity with financial management systems and tools.
- Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Federal financial systems and regulations.
- Familiarity with financial reporting tools and software.
- Certification in financial management or accounting (e.g., CPA, CGFM).
Eligibility:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.
Compensation:
Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
The proposed salary range for this position is $42,000 - $62,000 as a full-time employee or up to $41.73/hr. as a 1099 contractor.
